According to a report by the World Economic Forum and Bain and Company, India has the opportunity to become a leader in renewable hydrogen. By focusing efforts in 5 key areas in the demand and supply ecosystem, India can accelerate the adoption of renewable hydrogen, a vital requirement as it works towards meeting its energy security needs. The report identifies the following focus areas to achieve this: - Lowering cost of production through cheaper renewable energy storage and electrolyser subsidies. - Better infrastructure development  - Enhance demand for renewable hydrogen by tailoring solutions that meet their specific requirements - Develop India as a renewable hydrogen export hub - Divert investments from high-emission sources to green energy transition initiatives. Recent reports in the industry have alluded to #SOECs only being capable of around 4 years lifespans. This can have quite big implications on the viability of SOECs today and potential market share. EverWind Fuels is one project developer already considering SOECs as an option for some of its upcoming #greenammonia projects.

Boosting India's Green Hydrogen and Renewable Energy Revolution India, the world's fastest-growing large economy, is set to scale up renewable energy, focusing on green hydrogen. Decoupling economic growth from emissions will require significant investments in low-carbon technologies.  The World Bank’s Second Low-Carbon Energy Programmatic Development Policy Operation supports key reforms, including green hydrogen and electrolyze production, boosting renewable energy, and incentivizing battery energy storage.  With the first $1.5 billion operation approved in June 2023, these reforms aim to produce 450,000 metric tons of green hydrogen and 1.5 GW of electrolyzes annually from FY25/26.
