Despite often debilitating symptoms, such conditions are still being treated with hormonal interventions introduced more than 50 years ago. The problem doesn’t stop there. Because the ovary plays a critical role in overall endocrine function, women experience serious health problems when ovarian function fails.

OSTEOPOROSIS MYTHS: MYTH 2: ONLY WOMEN GET OSTEOPOROSIS Men can also develop osteoporosis, although it's more commonly associated with women. Approximately one in four men over 50 will experience an osteoporosis-related fracture. Factors contributing to osteoporosis in men include age, family history, medical conditions, lifestyle factors, and medication use. When men experience osteoporosis-related fractures, outcomes can be severe, with a higher mortality rate following hip fractures compared to women.
