Attention to those who work in the carbon space --> Integrity Action is holding focus groups and we need YOU! Why? 🙋♀️ We are bringing our 'citizen-centred accountability' model to carbon projects. 🌳 We *think* our new project will be a game-changer for carbon markets. 📢 It gives indigenous people and local communities an active voice in carbon projects, to fight corruption, ensure fairness/transparency of benefit-sharing mechanisms, and improve the integrity of carbon credits - a win-win for IPLCs, project developers & buyers. 🌍We've been very lucky to have support from Climate Collective and GPSA to make our idea a reality (thanks Alison Filler, Ana Velástegui, Anna Lerner Nesbitt, Saad Filali Meknassi Ann-Sofie Jespersen etc for all of your support thus far) BUT before launching the pilot, we want to validate our assumptions further... We are looking for local organisations and individuals in the Global Majority who work in or around carbon projects, as well as research bodies and other stakeholders working in VCMs who are interested in high integrity carbon and can act as critical friends. 🤳 Can you help us shape our tool? 💡 Can you join us in exploring the role citizens can play in the integrity of carbon markets? If you are interested in participating, please reach out for further information 📜🤝🤳✔ #accountability #transparency #citizenengagement #carbonintegrity #CCP #corecarbonprinciples #citizenengagement #integrityaction #carbonmarketcorruption #greenaccountability #VCM #collaboration

First off - great post and outreach. At the onset, it is long overdue for Indigenous Peoples to be separated from local communities. The lumping together is offensive in that Indigenous Peoples (I am) have unique rights and realities that cannot and should not ever be equated with local communities. They must find their own voice and position yet to non- Indigenous people it seems like a gracious and well-meaning action to link us together. Start with that. Then next go to a call for total transparency - it will come in the future with supply chain integrity requiring anyone claiming to have a project with “Indigenous benefits” to be forced to disclose what the exact nature and amount of these “benefits” are. I look forward to learning more.
