Imagine spending the night in a teepee or traditional Navajo hogan, a circular structure built with logs and covered in mud.

I bet you haven’t seen this Cannes-winning Latin American campaign 🌞 Sambito (Business holding company) "Nature Represented" by Grey Guayaquil, Ecuador. Problem: Ecuador’s constitution grants legal rights to Nature - the first ever constitution to do so, applause to Ecuador - but there weren't any lawyers to enforce these rights. Solution? A full-fledged campaign aimed exclusively at lawyers worldwide, asking them to donate pro bono hours to the defense of Ecuadorian nature. Result: Spectacular. Almost 4,000 lawyers signed up by the time of the campaign, and a court even ruled in favor of a river´s RIGHT TO FLOW. 🤯 Why I love it? 1. Because of the hyper-focus on the target audience - Nature needs lawyers? Then let’s target lawyers. Period. 2. Because of the copywriting - Isn’t this headline just lovely: “The Vilcabamba River has the right to flow freely.” Yes, you do Vilcabamba, you have the right to flow freely. :) 3. Because of the shift in the perception of Nature - Nature isn’t something you own. Nature isn’t even a “something”. Nature is Nature and must have the right to defend itself. Applause to Grey Guayaquil for keeping Latin American creativity up in the sky :) PS: Want me to bridge the gap between you and brilliant Latin American campaigns? Let me know in the comments :) https://lnkd.in/e_TV6PGV #creativity #advertising #werbung #kreativagentur #greyguayaquil #latintalent #copywriting #canneslions

Oops! Glasgow Airport's Gaelic Gaffe 😳🏴 A Lesson in Linguistic Accuracy 🌟 Let’s talk about the importance of getting those translations spot on. So, picture this: Glasgow Airport rolls out a fancy new sign for their Caledonian Bar and Restaurant, but there’s a wee problem – it’s in Irish Gaelic, not Scottish Gaelic! 🤦♂️ The full story: https://lnkd.in/dhvWn6uZ I mean, talk about awkward! It seems like machine translation was used where it shouldn't have been. But hey, let’s not throw machine translation under the bus just yet. It's great for quick translations, but when it comes to nuance, context and accuracy, nothing beats the human touch. 💁♂️✨ So, before you hit send on that all-important email or presentation (or print your restaurants new sign), take a moment to double-check. Better yet, why not consult with a real-life translator? They're the unsung heroes of the linguistic world, rescuing us from potentially awkward situations, one translation at a time! 🦸♀️💬 Let’s also give credit where it’s due – Glasgow Airport had good intentions. They just missed the mark this time. Lesson learned: when it comes to languages, get it right or don’t do it at all! ✅ Let’s keep those translations accurate and our signs embarrassment-free. #GaelicGaffe #LostInTranslation #HumanTouch

Nobody was killed but this foundering has focused the minds of politicians on the difficulties of Pacific Ocean constabulary at which the Royal New Zealand Navy are expert. "How it unfolded: HMNZS Manawanui sinks off coast of Samoa" is provided on YouTube by Stuff a regular New Zealand broadcaster. For Warren L D Johnson, OM Adriano Fabio Castellari and Kendrick Faison there is discussion of environmental and scientific concerns. The huge crane on the aft deck, suitable for freight handling where there are poor dock facilities, suggests to me that there is reduced disaster capability for Australian Maritime Safety Authority and other national relief agencies. The vessel and voyages combine several Armchair Admiral principles: - classic category with illustrious predecessors like the HMS Adventure, HMS Erebus, HMS Investigator and more - ship-of-convenience [from Norway] - proven offshore capability - proven survey vessel - minimal adjustments to ports and hatchways to accommodate naval equipment - accommodation for science and survey crews - an agenda of work [and straight into it] Wikipedia, the Free Encyclopedia has a good summary of what has been until now a record of achievement. I look forward to essays on the sinking in The Navy the newsletter of the Navy League of Australia. The link to the Wikipedia article is already in the table "LANDING SITE SPECIFICATIONS After Helicopter Landing Site Specifications pp. 351-352 Field Geologists' Manual, 3rd Edition-1989, Monograph 9 AusIMM" on https://lnkd.in/gyabF64H. Hon. David Pisoni towards the end of the video is an explanation that a replacement ship is required but the cost is difficult. This demonstrates that there is ongoing need for a state development cutter based on the Royal Australian Navy Arafura-class where ASC Pty Ltd can quickly provide for necessary constabulary and science duties for any Pacific [and Indian] Ocean island-nation. For full disclosure, I have ASX:ANZ shares in ANZ who have offices in both Samoa and American Samoa, so it is very likely that we will be exposed to any material losses to the Pacific fishery caused by this mishap. #maritimesafety #coastguard #marinescience #sciencevessel #islandhome https://lnkd.in/gKBcKYe9

✈️Flying Beyond the Product: The Cultural Brilliance of Sri Lankan Airlines’ Ad🌟 Have you ever seen an ad that doesn’t just showcase a product but becomes a celebration of culture? That’s what Sri Lankan Airlines’ latest campaign achieves—it doesn’t just market flights; it invites you to experience the essence of Sri Lanka itself. When Sid D sent this ad to me, as a marketing enthusiast, this campaign made me pause and reflect on the art of impactful advertising. 💡Here’s what stood out: 🎯 Cultural Involvement at Its Core: The ad seamlessly integrates Sri Lanka’s rich culture—its vibrant festivals, serene landscapes, and the legendary hospitality of its people. It doesn’t feel forced; it feels authentic, making the airline synonymous with the island’s identity. 🎥 Storytelling That Resonates: Through stunning visuals and emotional cues, the campaign doesn’t just show a destination—it tells a story. From the warmth of a welcoming smile to the rhythm of traditional dances, every detail immerses viewers in the Sri Lankan way of life. 💡 Strategic Positioning: By tying the airline to the spirit of Sri Lanka, the ad positions it as more than just transportation—it’s an integral part of the journey. Travellers are promised not just a trip but an experience rooted in culture and connection. 📈 Audience Connection: The campaign bridges two key audiences: international travellers yearning for authenticity and locals who take pride in their heritage. Striking this balance adds depth and relatability to the messaging. 🌍 A Global Yet Local Perspective: What makes this campaign even more powerful is its universal appeal. Whether you’re familiar with Sri Lanka or not, the cultural richness captivates you, and the airline becomes a symbol of discovery and belonging. Personally, there is so much history and culture I was unaware of and missed out on seeing so many beautiful places even though I have been to Sri Lanka. This ad campaign has done a fantastic job of conveying the lore of Ramayana. This approach reminds me of similar cultural campaigns by airlines like Air India, which famously showcased India’s warmth and diversity through their “Maharaja” mascot and ads filled with vibrant imagery of Indian traditions. Emirates and Qatar Airways have also tapped into cultural nuances, highlighting their home regions' luxury, heritage, and global allure. These campaigns demonstrate how airlines can go beyond routes and schedules to create a brand identity that resonates deeply with travellers worldwide. Cultural involvement isn’t just a marketing strategy—it’s a bridge to emotional engagement, pride, and wanderlust. It’s what makes a brand unforgettable. What’s your take on the role of culture in aviation marketing? Have you noticed any campaigns that beautifully balance authenticity and marketing goals? https://lnkd.in/euJhXucW #CulturalMarketing #SriLankanAirlines #AviationMarketing #BrandStorytelling #TravelMarketing

Some may have seen in the news the historic relinquishing of control of the Chagos Islands. The UK has laid claim to the Chagos Islands since the 1970s. But as of today they're being handed back to Mauritius. In particular Diego Garcia - one of the islands within the archipelago - has been shrouded in secrecy due to its UK/US military connections. A recent BBC news report saw journalist Alice Cuddy allowed onto the island to investigate. Read the article here - https://lnkd.in/dT9bE3gK For my money, as a surfer, windsurfer and foiler, this part of the Indian Ocean has a whole wealth of untapped potential. Previously, only service men and women (and maybe a few locals) have had chance to ride here. And now the whole area is about to be blown open with regards to surf tourism. I know of a few strike missions already being planned. Most surfing real estate across the world has been plundered. A few outposts exist under the radar but the Chagos Islands really are uncharted when it comes to watersports. It's realistic to assume, based on the quality of other more known spots in this part of the world, the Chagos Islands has some world class discoveries waiting to be investigated and ridden. Many surfers will be rubbing their hands with the UK's announcement - particularly those who scout the planet for new experiences. I can't wait to see what adventurous board riders will uncover in the coming months and years. Watch this space I guess...
