We're excited to share a milestone in our journey of social responsibility and employee engagement. Each year, our dedicated team comes together to select a charity that resonates with our values and commitment to supporting local communities. For 2024, the spotlight shines on Herts Young Homeless (hyh), a remarkable charity located near our head office in Borehamwood. Their tireless efforts to assist young people in navigating the challenges of homelessness have inspired us deeply. As a proud member of the The Royal Warrant Holders Association, we have the privilege of nominating a charity to receive a donation of £1,000 from them. We are delighted to announce that our nomination for hyh has been successful. This donation is just the beginning of our support for hyh, as we embark on a year-long journey of fundraising activities spearheaded by our incredible employees. From creative challenges to collaborative events, our team is gearing up to support hyh in various capacities. But here's the twist – whatever our employees raise by the end of the year, the business will match, doubling the impact of our collective efforts. This initiative is more than just a donation; it's a testament to our belief in empowering communities and making a tangible difference in people's lives. This week is #LonelinessAwarenessWeek so here's a little about what we do, and how you can get involved: What we do: Our Community Outreach team, mostly volunteers, support people experiencing loneliness and isolation, in their own homes and communities, until they are confident enough to access community groups and activities independently. Regular contact increases a person’s positive social contacts, reducing social isolation and contributing to better mental health. We're a charity with the person at the centre - our staff and volunteers will also identify any other needs, and can signpost to internal services, such as Money Advice, or external agencies, such as befriending services. How you can help: 1. Take a look at how easy it is to volunteer with us. Our Community Outreach team is just one area in which you can get involved with any spare time that you have. We give you all the training and support and our volunteers regularly tell us that they get out more than they give! https://lnkd.in/eifrdhhm 2. Donate to ACT - our Community Outreach team is reliant on grants and donations. Simple ways to help homelessness: 👚 Donating clothes - Find your local supported hostel or homelessness hub and donate some clothes! 🏫 Volunteering time - There are thousands of charities always in need of volunteers. Whether time at a community centre, a charity shop or buddying someone, the options are vast. 📢 Advocating for policy changes - Sign a petition, start a petition, spread awareness! 🤝 Simple acts of kindness - Providing a meal, money or listening/engaging with someone in need.
