Underrepresented patient populations in clinical trials impact health equity. The path to approval is challenging, and new regulatory policies require data to be representative of real-world populations. This amplifies the pressure for sponsors to deliver. A proactive partner can help your program meet regulatory requirements and serve all patient populations who could benefit from your product. #patientdiversity #clinicaltrials

There's evidence to support that minorities do worse, and a lot of the time it’s due to lack of access," shares William Humphries, M.D., MPH, co-author of "Closing the Racial and Ethnic Disparity Gap in Stroke Care." In this CERENOVUS-driven report, Dr. Humphries and other esteemed co-authors highlight the racial disparities that continue to be a pressing concern in stroke outcomes and review hospital-level programs, best practices, and recommendations to address these unmet needs and create a more equitable treatment landscape for all. "The importance of the work is that we need data to help us identify where we need to act," expresses Shelly O. April is National Minority Health Month. (1) Health disparities are differences in how populations access, experience, and receive healthcare. (2) Factors that influence such differences include social, economic, and environmental disadvantages, provider biases, poor provider-patient communication, and low health literacy. (2) Luminology partners with our clients to ensure unbiased and inclusive medical communications through the following practices: ⭐ Promoting increased diversity in clinical trials ⭐ Collaborating with influential programs such as the African American Wellness Project ⭐ Critical review of new data to determine areas of bias ⭐ Crafting project teams with a diverse collection of staff ⭐ Supporting inclusive patient and clinician advisory boards to develop product access solutions #NationalMinorityHealthMonth #Luminology #medcomms References: 1. 💡Addressing Socioeconomic Challenges in IBD Care. In the pursuit of health equity, it's essential to recognize the socioeconomic challenges that underserved communities face in accessing IBD care. Here are 3 of many such challenges: 1. Delayed Diagnoses: African American and marginalized communities often face delays in IBD diagnosis due to disparities in healthcare access. 2. Access to Therapies: Economic and geographic barriers can limit access to the latest IBD treatments for these populations. 3. Telemedicine Barriers: Technological and policy issues may restrict the benefits of telehealth in underserved areas. Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) are essential in today's clinical research. Learn why DEI matters and discover four crucial steps to crafting an FDA-compliant DEI plan: 1. Understanding disease prevalence: Understand disease impact across diverse groups. 2. Designing studies and eligibility: Design studies with DEI principles in mind. 3. Setting enrollment targets: Establish clear targets for underrepresented groups. 4. Developing engagement strategies: Develop comprehensive approaches for diverse participant recruitment. Integrating DEI isn't just a task—it's a collaborative effort to which we at CliniLink Health are committed. People who use drugs are inequitably impacted by #STIs due to shared social determinants of health, compounding barriers to accessing services, and stigma. In 2022, NACCHO conducted a survey with 98 local health departments and 135 other organizations (e.g., community-based organizations, healthcare clinics). Insights from the survey, focus groups with 37 of these organizations, and an ongoing #Evaluation show that addressing substance use and STIs through a coordinated, syndemic approach can reach priority populations more effectively than addressing either issue on its own. However, separate STI and HR funding sources and data systems can be barriers to service integration. #STIWeek #HarmReduction

Patients deserve the utmost care, which means recognizing the importance of race and cultural competence in healthcare. Disregarding the role of race in diagnosing and treating autoimmune conditions is unacceptable. When we overlook the significance of race, we miss a crucial aspect of the patient's experience and needs. Understanding how race and culture impact health is essential. Biological differences among racial and ethnic groups can affect the presentation of autoimmune diseases and the response to treatments. Cultural factors also shape patient care, influencing communication styles, health beliefs, and treatment preferences. Moreover, disparities in healthcare access and outcomes persist due to historical and systemic injustices. By recognizing and addressing these disparities, we can strive for more equitable healthcare for all. Let's also consider the importance of diversity in clinical trials. Including diverse populations ensures that treatments are effective and safe for everyone. We must advocate for greater inclusivity in research to improve healthcare outcomes for all individuals. Embracing race and cultural competence in autoimmune healthcare isn't just about political correctness—it's about delivering the highest standard of care to every patient. Let's commit to recognizing and valuing all aspects of patients' identities. #HealthEquity #CulturalCompetence #DiversityInHealthcare
