July is National Make a Difference to Children Month, where we remember the importance of guiding, helping, and supporting children near and far as they grow and navigate life's many challenges. CEC supports and partners with the Partnership for Resilience, an organization that aims to transform and integrate education, healthcare, and community organizations to create a trauma-informed, family-focused system that measurably improves academic, health, and social outcomes for children impacted by Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs). Together, we seek to mitigate the impact of childhood trauma and build resiliency by coordinating care and services between healthcare and education organizations, increasing family and community wellness and access to preventative care, and identifying results-based practices that could inform a policy agenda around these issues. This letter, drafted by National Head Start Association on behalf of Head Start and Early Head Start parents and caregivers, asks our country's leaders to continue the national commitment to providing all children the foundation they need to thrive, regardless of their circumstances at birth, by reconsidering the impact of the proposed new Head Start rule, and prioritizing: 🔴Making sure any new requirements are fully paid for and do not result in reducing the number of children and families served 🔵Keeping children safe and healthy utilizing proven practices, not arbitrary federal rules 🟡Recognizing the unique cultures, traditions, and preferences of communities and continuing to provide Head Start programs the local autonomy to meet individual community needs. ** Community Health Leaders and Health Heroes - Grant Opportunity ** I am honored to serve on the Minnesota Department of Health's Community Solutions Advisory Council, and we are happy to announce the 2023 legislatively-mandated call for Community Solutions for Healthy Child Development Grant applications. https://lnkd.in/gaGcmgHw The purposes of the Community Solutions grant program are to: + Improve child development outcomes related to the well-being of children of color and American Indian children from prenatal to grade three and their families. This includes, but is not limited to, the goals outlined by the Minnesota Department of Human Services’ early childhood systems reform effort: early learning; health and well-being; economic security; and safe, stable, nurturing relationships and environments. + Reduce racial disparities in children’s health and development from prenatal to grade three. + Promote racial and geographic equity. Applicants are encouraged to request an annual funding amount between $60,000 - $150,000 per year. Unfortunately, I am unable to answer questions about this RFP.
