How to post on Linkedin (without losing professional integrity) I ask a Single-Question survey for people who sign up for my newsletter. One of the most surprising findings was this: professionals are afraid to post on LinkedIn because they fear compromising their professional integrity. They worry their companies or colleagues are watching every move. So, they play it safe—they post nothing (40% of users) Or they stick to sharing news articles, cheat sheets, or simply liking and commenting on “happy to announce” job updates. If you want to post on LinkedIn without losing your professional integrity, try this: 1. Share a case: Talk about a challenge you solved or a project you worked on—keep it brief and focused on the outcome. 2. Highlight a milestone: Share a recent achievement or completed project. It’s professional and celebrates progress. Hope that helps. ------------------------------------------- 👉 P.S. If you take 15 minutes and scroll through linkedin.com – you might come to the same conclusion that I have come to. In 2024 the new secret sauce to leadership – do not get offended. Do not react. If I have a client that wants to judge someone’s frequency of job movement, gaps in their resume, the fact they used Aptos versus Times New Roman as their resume font – so be it. My opinion and that of a candidate is NOT as important as theirs’. Full stop. You can be as outraged as you want but how arrogant does someone have to be to believe that they get to control how their work experience is interpreted? We often get blinded by what we want – the job, the promotion – and we often lose sight of the fact that the evaluative criteria of a hiring manager might not correspond with your work history. Are there success stories where an employer has hired someone who was a job hopper? Absolutely. Are there horror stories. Absolutely. My point is that once you define your optimum candidate profile and process, stick to it – do not apologize for it. And if criticism flows from that decision – those are slings and arrows that come with the territory. We are spending far too much time validating the feelings and opinions of others – time that could be spent on process improvement and driving better service and overall culture. There is a downside to social media and internet “reactivism” – we have created an outlet where everyone’s opinion is deemed important. It is not. If someone does not like the meal at your restaurant – and wants to leave a bad review on Reddit – so be it. If you believe in the quality of your food and service and have the full restaurant to prove it, why bother validating them? If you have a great culture and company – and someone on their way out the door visits Glassdoor.com or Indeed.com and slams you – it should not in any way detract from what you have built. If you want to please everyone sell ice cream. Mediocre people do not like high performers and high performers do not like mediocre people. We need to develop a thicker skin and a lens that is pointed squarely at the majority and not the loudest person in the room. Just because someone has a microphone, it does not mean they belong in your audience. brent@lecoursgroup.com

Your LinkedIn profile is more important than you think! Companies and recruiters ask to see your LinkedIn profile as part of their hiring process. that should tell you something, that your LinkedIn page is an extension of your resume. Here's a quick checklist to ensure your profile is optimized: 1. Professional Headshot: Your photo should be clear, high-quality, and professional. 2. Headline: Beyond just your job title—show your value proposition. What do you offer? 3. About Section: Tell your story. Who are you? What do you do? Why do you do it? 4. Be cautious while applying for jobs on social media ! According to recent research, over 90% of social media job postings are either fake or simply designed to collect data from job seekers. To avoid falling into these traps, never share your CV with every job posting, don't reveal your current salary, and don't show desperation to join the job or compromise for the position. Only apply for the job if you actually need it, as applying for unnecessary positions could prevent other qualified candidates from getting the job. Remember to keep smiling and have faith in God.
