On a purposeful mission to raise domestic abuse awareness in dentistry (Lived Experience)▪️Dental Nurse ▪️Safeguarding Lead▪️OHE▪️Dental Nurse Tutor
Everyone has a story. Told or untold. At times, choosing to share your story to raise awareness and/or educate others, may take something out of you. And that is why I allocate time to build myself back up and heal (even though it looks like I am busy.) I want to thank the College of General Dentistry for giving me a platform (again!) to raise awareness about domestic abuse - how it impacts our patients, our colleagues, our family, our friends, and what we can all do to help those experiencing it. Please click on the link below to read my blog on Domestic Abuse In Dentistry: Shaping A Safer Tomorrow https://lnkd.in/e-GzQbMh PS. This blog also includes a list of organisations and charities, and their contact details, which support and help victims and survivors of domestic abuse in the UK - please feel free to screenshot and add to your safeguarding policy in your workplace! You can also copy and paste the list, print it out and display it in the bathroom, the waitroom, your staff room as well! #DomesticAbuseAwareness #ShapingASaferTomorrow The British Association of Dental Nurses

Addressing the plight of older people in prison requires recognition of their humanity and dignity, as well as efforts to provide compassionate care, support, and opportunities for rehabilitation. Advocates and policymakers should increasingly call for reform to ensure that aging individuals behind bars receive appropriate medical care, access to programs tailored to their needs, and opportunities for early release or alternative sentencing options. Frailty, all too common among nursing home residents, compromises the capacity of adults to respond to stressors. It exposes many to unacceptable risks related to polypharmacy, antipsychotics, anticonvulsants, anxiolytics, and more (see https://lnkd.in/g3p86xq3). We serve as advocates, because we believe in better clinical outcomes. Together, we can uplift quality of life for our nation’s most vulnerable elders. #LongtermCare #ElderCare #NonprofitOrganization #Nonprofit

Mental healthcare is complicated, we make it simple for employers & their team | Manager, Partnership Development @ Tava Health
compassion fatigue: indifference to charitable appeals on behalf of those who are suffering, experienced as a result of the frequency or number of such appeals Or simply described as: the negative cost of caring Unsurprisingly, it was first identified and coined in the healthcare space. Nurses, psychologists, caregivers, therapists, saw that their gifts of empathy & compassion, could also cause stress and/or them to turn off their own emotions. While it is most common for those who work in industries like healthcare and nonprofits where you may be exposed to people who are suffering, it could extend beyond the professional sphere. Those who are caretakers to family members– or simply those who are exposed to others’ trauma often– can also experience compassion fatigue. The good news is that it is natural, treatable, and preventable. Talking to a therapist is always a great place to start. If you’re looking for easily accessible therapists (think 3 clicks and you’re scheduled for tomorrow) as an individual or as an employer for your employees, send me a DM and I'll get you connected. In the meantime, I’ll share a few strategies from one of our therapists below 👇
