3️⃣ Where do we go now? The massive, less focused effort of the federal government reduced educational inequality, but did not finish the recovery. It is now up to states to drive local efforts hyper-focused on academic interventions. As reported in the The Wall Street Journal, "The overall impact of the federal money was modest, and the remaining dollars won’t be enough to get students back to where they were before the pandemic, the researchers projected. The findings come as the money is running out and some schools are cutting academic-recovery programs." “The pandemic dollars helped with recovery, but the recovery won’t be done,” said Tom Kane. States need to take up the baton with academic catch-up efforts, such as tutoring and summer learning, and continue to focus on lowering absenteeism. https://lnkd.in/eHx6VBY6 Image: The Wall Street Journal

Good government means investing in our future. @GovShaprio’s 2024 – 2025 budget placed historic funding into basic education, committing $11 billion to K-12 public education. 🏫 📚🎒 Of this funding, nearly $526 million will be distributed through a new adequacy formula to drive dollars to the schools that need them most, providing fair and equitable funding to the students of Pennsylvania. #GoodGovernment #PublicEducation https://lnkd.in/ec6CkweC

How are we working towards creating an affordable Carroll education for all? 1. The average full-time Carroll financial aid package in 2023 —$33,337—is over half the total cost of attendance. 2. In addition to financial assistance, scholarships and awards, and work-study positions, financial need is considered for students who submit a Federal FAFSA. 3. 99% of Carroll students receive an institutional scholarship. 4. For students who receive the maximum financial aid gift, the cost to attend Carroll is comparable to the in-state cost at Montana’s public universities.
