“Insubordinate, even if usually correct” | Entrepreneur & Troublemaker | Startup Sherpa | Estates Maven
There’s good news and there’s bad news about roads. The good news is that if you found a path that’s worn enough that it presents as a road, it means that people have traveled it before. Most likely, that road leads somewhere. Part of what some people miss about roads, is that you still have to do the work to walk them. And you’re not entirely sure if the end of that road is a place that you want to go. This is one of the reasons that getting to know people who have walked these roads, finding mentors, and educating yourself even just a little bit about the road ahead of you can help you improve the chances that the work you put in is the work that will get you where you want to go. And then, there are the wanderers. Wanderers are most likely to get lost, but also most likely to discover something new. You get to choose how you’d like to proceed.

When you primarily work in an office, there is nothing more enjoyable than a field trip. If the sun is shining, your gumboots are muddy, and you're learning about environmental measures on farm - even better! Time and again we notice a change in the conversation when we get outdoors and go on site with our workshop groups. Regardless of the subject matter, the discussion changes when the desks are removed. The fresh air, the engaged stakeholders, the real world possibilities. It all contributes to a fundamental mindset shift that can completely change the course of a project - and I've never seen it be anything but incredibly positive. Field trip are harder to organise. It's a bit of logistical and H+S faff, there's calls to make and utes to book. But, I will absolutely guarantee you - it's worth it. The next time your discussion is stalling or the hurdles seem too great - get outside. Remind yourselves why you're in this. Feel the sun on your face. Reset your brain. You won't regret it.

Civil Engineer bringing regenerative practices into the Built Environment - TerraLupa. Supporting businesses to shift their cultures to protect life and the planet. Outreach & Partnership Lead at Bio-leadership Project.
As many of you know, I am a Civil Engineer who has worked for almost a decade in the Built Environment. This experience made me realise several things about the industry, how we run our businesses and the main working culture that most companies have around the world. One of the main things that I found that is missing is a space to rest and reconnect with ourselves. I believe this is crucial for the work we do in our busy day-to-day life. It is a non stop go-go environment that drains all your energy and does not give space to regenerate. Unfortunately, there was also missing a sense of belonging and care for our planet Earth. Even we engineers that are literally shaping our world. What is important for our businesses? What is important for people? How can we bring together those needs and create work environments full of energy, productivity and efficiency? (and the forbidden word: happiness;)) For the last 3 years, I have been deepening my leadership with nature, and have found incredible support in having a facilitated space to rest and recharge, to reconnect with myself and nature. These experiences have greatly impacted my life, how I work, how I think and how I relate to others. It has given me the energy and realignment to keep going. After this three years, I am offering for the first time a space like this in Spain, with my friend Korbi Hort. Three days to reconnect with nature and with ourselves. Three days to deepen your leadership with nature and to allow you to take care of yourself for the work you are doing. If this resonates, please take a look and write me a message if you want to come, we still have spaces available ;) 𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐧𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐑𝐞𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭 - 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐖𝐢𝐥𝐝 - 𝟏𝟐-𝟏𝟒𝐭𝐡 𝐀𝐩𝐫𝐢𝐥 - 𝐏𝐨𝐧𝐭 𝐝𝐞 𝐕𝐚𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢 (𝐒𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐞𝐬). 𝐂𝐚𝐭𝐚𝐥𝐚𝐧 𝐏𝐲𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐞𝐬 Practicalities: You can come to Barcelona, and there is a bus that would take you close to Sadernes where we can pick you up. Two pick up options, on Thursday 11th evening or Friday morning. More info: https://lnkd.in/ez6wWWVg Korbi Hort, The Bio-Leadership Project

Moving to a new area, let alone a new country, can be a daunting task.
