With the help of some CVT staff members, New Tactics in Human Rights shared a new blog reflection on the 2023 Advocacy Evaluation Training that took place with Latin American activists in Mexico City: https://lnkd.in/eYmMVuYW And, there's a corresponding free toolkit housed on the New Tactics website -- a great resource for #HumanRights defenders globally, and is available in English, Spanish and Arabic.

March 31 is Transgender Day of Visibility. On that day, and all the days both before and after, showing up for trans people is crucial. Ally is a verb. If you're speaking but not acting, if your allyship is in name only, you may very well be doing more harm than good. These days, there is so much misinformation around gender-affirming care, especially as that care relates to trans youth. My trans son and I created an easy, straightforward digital resource to bust myths around gender-affirming care, and offer simple ways cisgender allies can help push back against the often harmful narratives that surround how trans people and gender-affirming care are talked about by the media, lawmakers and others. I invite you to have a look, get comfortable with the facts and truth around this care and trans youth, and then commit to speaking out. As a parent of a trans kid, I need you out here, overtly and clearly supporting my kid. More importantly, however, is my trans kid needs you out here. #TDOV #ProtectTransKids #TransIsBeautiful #TransRightsAreHumanRights

Authentic Asian American Advocacy. When you hear that, what comes to mind? Who do you picture? Who and what are they advocating for? Whatever you just thought of, I don't think that's it. When we think about all of us, or none of us (admittedly, if you know me, you know I think about this a LOT), often times we think about the "all of us" as solely one key group that we belong to. Not "all of us" being, actually, ALL OF US. That's why I feel so lucky to potentially have this discussion, in the company of badass women like Nora Ali, Cathryn Litvack Dhanatya, PhD, and Tiffany A. Yu, MSc, about how we actually do this - how we make spaces bigger for all of us, how we challenge norms holding us back, and how we find those common links in our humanity - all from our own individual perspectives. But in order to get on that SXSW stage and do this, we need your help to get there! Here's where you come in: PLEASE, as many times as you can, click on the link to our panel and vote, share, and comment on our panel! There are so many amazing panels out there that deserve to be on the stage next year, and I believe ours is one of them. A huge, huge thank you to both Jerry Won and Megumi Calver for making this all happen - Jerry Won has four possible events, including this panel, up in this Panel Picker, and the link to vote for all four is below. It just takes 30 seconds! I've found, in this work, we often default to what we know, what is comfortable, what seems to be the easiest. Advocating for all of us isn't easy. But it also doesn't happen if we don't see others doing it. Hope you'll let us show you how *we* do it, this March in Austin! SendUsToSXSW.com

ADVOCACY - VOICE OF THE VOICELESS 🌐✊ In our dynamic world, advocacy emerges as a powerful force for change. 🔍 As the Civic Participation and Advocacy officer of Speak Out Africa Initiative (SOAI) , I understand that Advocacy is more than what people think it is. It is: 🌐 Awareness Creation: Advocacy isn't just about making noise; it's about creating #awareness through #campaigns, social media, and grassroots movements, #spotlighting the challenges faced by the vulnerable (voiceless), #prompting society to confront these issues head-on. 📜 Policy Change: Advocacy is a #catalyst for policy change. By advocating for legislative reforms, we can #address systemic issues that perpetuate the marginalization of women, youths, PWDs and other certain groups, ensuring a more just and #inclusive legal framework. 💪 Fostering Empowerment: The true power of advocacy lies in #empowerment. By providing platforms for #selfexpression and representation, advocacy nurtures a sense of agency among vulnerable groups and marginalized communities. 🔄 Challenging Stereotypes: Advocacy challenges stereotypes that contribute to the silencing of certain voices. It entails #understanding of diverse experiences, #dismantling harmful narratives and #fostering a society that embraces perspectives. 🌍 Voice of the Voiceless: Advocacy is not just a call to action; it's a #commitment to #amplifying the voices that have long been muted. Let's embrace #advocacy and contribute to a more just and equitable society by championing the interests and rights of the voiceless. 🤝✨ #Advocacy #VoiceOfTheVoiceless #Empowerment #SocialChange #UPGchampion #champion #advocate #advocateforchange

#AllEyesOnRafah I have several questions for those who identify themselves as human rights activists and organizations: 1. Could you please clarify the primary objectives of human rights organizations when they seem unable to effectively address pressing priorities? 2. Why is there a noticeable silence from human rights activists and organizations concerning the widespread violence occurring in Palestine? 3. Where is the United States, often portraying itself as a leading advocate for human rights, amidst these critical situations? 4. Additionally, why aren't women's rights activists addressing the severe treatment inflicted upon women by Israeli soldiers? These questions aim to understand the role and effectiveness of human rights advocacy in light of current global challenges. #Rafah #HumanRights #Palestine #Activism #GlobalJustice #CivilRights #SocialJustice #Accountability #WomenEmpowerment #USPolicy #PeaceBuilding #Equality #HumanitarianAction #Solidarity #JusticeForAll #Advocacy #RightsViolations #GlobalResponsibility #HumanitarianCrisis #VoiceForTheVoiceless
