Our most recent Learning to Lead class kicked off their leadership journey with a volunteer event at the Houston Food Bank. As a group, they processed 29 pallets weighing just over 17,000 pounds, assembled more than 1,700 disaster boxes and ultimately helped provide more than 14,000 meals, showing how individuals can make an even greater impact as part of a team!

In my 11 years in Scouting, as a leader and our son’s mentor, I learned more than just outdoor skills, knots, etc. One valuable lesson I learned, through the Woodbadge leadership course, we were exposed to this wonderful model. It illustrates how teams form, and ultimately move through these stages to PERFORMING. https://lnkd.in/e6FrAFXj It’s worth a very quick read to understand team dynamics.

Insightful and meaningful leadership training completed. The session emphasized the power of being a Multiplier within the organization, fostering inclusivity, and understanding the profound impact it can have on those around you. Leading with inclusivity not only strengthens team dynamics but also drives innovation and growth by empowering every voice to be heard.

Leadership is showing your team that you are part of the team. It is about encouraging, supporting and showing them that you are part of the team. How do you show up as leadership? Do you empower your team?

Really excited to be taking my 3rd cohort of leaders from Community Housing through The Compassionate Leadership Programme. Its a powerful ‘learn, experiment and do’ development experience run over 10 or 16 weeks focusing on how to enhance your leadership and awaken, embed and sustain a high performance 🎯 , compassionate 🫶 workplace culture where everyone has the opportunity to thrive, participate, perform and stay well. This is not 🙅♂️ your run of the mill 'training' programme. It's something a bit different 🧜♂️ . It's live action ⚽ (no pre-records). It's practical and focused an participants experimenting 🥼 🧪 and applying their learning 🎓 to their practice straight away. It can be delivered flexibly 👍 to fit your requirements It's fun 😄 (most of the time 😉) It will certainly get you thinking 🤔 There's goodie bags 🛍️ It's loaded with awesome tools 🧰 and resources you can share and use immediately It's a game changer 🏓 If you want to know more, do get in contact. I am now taking bookings for September 2025 and beyond. #compassionateleadership #leadership

Leadership Thought: The other day while around the bay in Miami - I saw a high powered speed boat fly by. Fun to watch and I bet fun to be on … and I began to think about the practical aspect to those boats and leadership. In our leadership journey, do you come across folks that are fast - slick - create a big wake - and where you have to give them wide berth? They can create tension - friction and leave people washed over in their whirpool. How do you handle those “boats” and the situations they create? Many times they may be awesome at a key task - assignment or have singular expertise. My advice - be aware of the coming boat - know their value and prepare the team around to work with the wake and ride it instead of being tossed overboard.

When becoming a Leadership Role or having a Management Position it is very “IMPORTANT” to remember that we must “Talk With” and not “Talk To” People. There is a Big difference between the two of them.

Leadership is defined by the actions we take, not the titles we hold. It's about leading by example and creating impact through what we do every day.
