The Union of Arab Banks in collaboration with the Central Bank of Bahrain and Bahrain Association of Banks is holding a specialized workshop on “New Interest Rate Risk in the Banking Book (IRRBB): Basel Committee Requirements” for representatives from various banks in Bahrain on 2-4 September. During the opening, Mr. Mohamed Fakhro, Director of Retail Banking Supervision Directorate at CBB, highlighted the importance of IRRBB management in light of the recent surge in global inflation. Mr. Fakhro also discussed the CBB’s recent collaboration with the industry on regulatory and supervisory initiatives in this area in order to ensure a stable and more resilient banking sector in the Kingdom.

The Central Bank of Bahrain concluded an On-Job Training Program for university students from various local and international universities. The program focused on equipping students with the necessary knowledge, skills and experience required in a regulatory setting. Trainees were assigned to different functions within the CBB in line with their university major. During the ceremony, students presented their respective training projects in the presence of CBB Executive Management. Mr. Saber AlShehabi, MCIPS, Director of HR and Administration at CBB, highlighted the CBB’s role in training Bahraini youth as part of its ongoing efforts in human capital development to cater to the financial services sector within the Kingdom.
