One mistake that will ruin your vacations. Not having money saved beforehand. I used to use a zero percent interest credit card instead. Hotels Airfares Activities Souvenirs Restaurants Every expense would go on the card. As the balance rose, so did my anxiety. By the time we got home, my stress levels would be higher than before we took the trip. Luckily, there’s a better way. Create a vacation fund in a high yield savings account. Contribute to it each month as part of your budget. When it’s time for your trip, use the credit card that gets you the most points. Then pay it off with your vacation fund when you return. No stress! Otherwise it’s an endless cycle of busting your butt to pay off that last vacation you took. Then you’ll feel like you need a vacation from paying your last vacation. And the cycle repeats. True enjoyment for a reward comes when you’ve put in the work beforehand. Otherwise, it’s like getting a trophy before you’ve won a competition. It robs you of true satisfaction. Break the cycle and enjoy your time off. ————————————————————————— 👋 Hi! I’m Mike, a pharmacist with a passion for financial wellness. How I save money for my vacation? Saving for this vacation did not require a major cut in spending. I kept an eye out for unexpected boosts, such as policy dividends or bonuses, and deposited them directly into our vacation fund. First, I choose a destination based on everyone's interests and preferences. Then, I listed all my expenses - travel, accommodation, food, activities, and a bit extra for unplanned things. Based on my research and estimates, I created reasonable budgets for each category. It took some time, but together made all the budgeting efforts worth it. And you know what made it all worth it? On that trip, I spent every minute with my family, no distractions, just pure enjoyment. That break from the regular hustle and bustle was more than simply a vacation. It was an opportunity to relax, refresh, and recharge without having to worry about the responsibilities of daily life. There are three ways you can pay for your next vacation. #1 Cash flow it (i.e., you pay for it with the money that you have in your checking account). #2 Use credit (and I'm not talking about using your credit card to get the points and then immediately paying it off). #3 Use a vacation fund (a.k.a. squirrel fund). Using a vacation fund is my preferred way of paying for a vacation because it earmarks the money for one specific purpose and it smoothens out your budget. I put together a three-step process on how to create a vacation fund to pay for your next getaway. ---------------- If you like this content, please follow me on LinkedIn for more tips and strategies on how to create a better financial future for yourself. #budgeting #vacation #savingstips

I need a vacation! I just don't want to spend an arm and a leg to do it. An infinite bank can make it happen. Here's an example: You take a vacation and spend $3,500 Cost using a credit card: Interest rate is 23.99% APR plus fees and expenses You pay $350 per month for 12 months $3,500 in principle $423 in interest Total vacation cost = $3,923 Cost using an infinite bank: Interest rate is 5.5% You pay $325 per month for 12 months $3,500 in principle $88 in interest You earn 10% interest on your principle $350 earned interest $3,500 + $88 - $350 = $3,238 Total vacation cost = $3,238 YOUR VACATION COST LESS THAN YOU SPENT!! ------------------------------------------------------------------ This is very doable! DM me to explore how to set up an infinite bank!
