🌟 **Strengthening Bonds in Lone Working Teams of Care Professionals ** 🌟 In the world of home care, many of our dedicated care professionals work independently, often feeling isolated in their roles. But when we bring these lone-working teams together—whether through open days, lunch get-togethers, or team-building events—the impact is profound! I experienced this impact today at Home Instead SUR Group South Ayrshire and Kilmarnock office and the feedback was incredible! Whilst chatting with a Care Profesional she stated “in 30 years of jobs in caring I have never truly loved a job like I love this one, I feel like I have come home” when I asked what had influenced this feeling she responded with “because I genuinely feel my work is valued. Before I came to Home Instead, no one had ever thanked me. Here not only am I thanked but I am supported by the team around me” Now this is a perfect example of how to remain personal at scale. What else can we do to continue these connections? It’s about providing…. ✨ **Shared Experiences**: These gatherings provide a platform for care professionals to share stories, challenges, and successes, fostering a sense of community and mutual support. ✨ **Collaboration & Learning**: Coming together encourages collaboration, allowing care professionals to exchange best practices and learn from one another, enhancing the quality of care we provide. ✨ **Well-being Boost**: Social interactions reduce feelings of isolation, boosting mental well-being and job satisfaction. A happy care profesional is a quality care professional! ✨ **Stronger Team Dynamics**: Regular meet-ups help build trust and camaraderie, transforming individual care profession into a cohesive, supportive team. Let's continue to create these opportunities for connection and growth. After all, when we care for our care professional, everyone benefits. 💪💙 #TeamBuilding #CarersCommunity #EmployeeWellbeing #TogetherWeThrive

Why are employment rates among the working age population living with an intellectual disability so low? Learning disabilities impact workforce participation rates by over 53% in Australia. At IEP Australia, we aim to provide practitioners and other participant-facing staff with advice, guidance and practical solutions for supporting program participants with intellectual disabilities on their journey to finding and retaining work. With over 450,000 Australians living with an intellectual disability, practitioners need to be skilled up and well trained. 🙌🏼 Couldn’t agree more, some great tips for hiring managers. Building teams of people with the right behaviours has massive benefits for workplace performance and productivity, as well as our personal relationships (after all, we spend most of our time at work). That’s why I genuinely enjoy asking situational based questions in interviews!

I always hated working with people with big egos. It was exhausting and annoying. Big egos are like black holes sucking in everyone’s energy. When I set up Koru Kids I knew I needed every team member's energy focused on building better childcare. It's so hard, we couldn't afford distractions. So we didn't want any huge egos around. Instead, I wanted to hire people who were - smart - humble - and kind But how? Over the years we refined our methods and today I can honestly say I rate our team 10/10 on all 3 dimensions. I’d love for others to steal our methods, which are below. Because when you do find a team that is smart, humble and kind - it’s next-level amazing. 🔄 Repost to help others, and follow Rachel Carrell for more like this

#dei & #deib friendly hiring process . Tip. " Educate yourself on disabilities ! Understand that disabilities are diverse and often INVISIBLE ! . They’re also common—for example, almost 25% of us live with some kind of disability or the other , and about 9% of population have a learning difference. People may need accommodations. #DisabilityRights #WorkplaceDiscrimination #EmployeeSupport #MentalHealthMatters I've been wanting to share my experience for months now, so here it goes! 😊 I’ve kept some details private since it’s under investigation by state and federal authorities. Here's the situation: I moved across the country for a job, and I’ve been dealing with discrimination because of my disability when I asked for some simple accommodation. 🤔 **Background:** I have a herniated disk in my L5-S1 region, which can sometimes make walking tricky—it's random and mostly flares up unexpectedly. **Career Moves:** I've worked as a trucker for 4 years and spent 10 years as a car mechanic. Every employer I’ve had was fine with my accommodation: just needing extra breaks during flare-ups. **Job Change:** I found a mid-sized company hiring from out of state, so I moved my family and I to their new shop, excited for a fresh start. **Disclosure:** After meeting the General Manager and informing... At Karmann, we recently hired our 30th employee with a disability. But this isn't just a milestone – it's a reminder of why we started this journey. Each of these artisans with disabilities brings a different perspective, problem-solving skills, and an unmatched work ethic. To companies hesitant about inclusive hiring: you're not just missing out on talented individuals, you're missing out on innovation, loyalty, and a more empathetic work environment. Inclusion isn't charity – it's good business. And it's about time more organizations realized this. What's holding your company back from embracing inclusive hiring? #hiring #inclusive #BeverlyWrites

Yesterday I was invited by Farha Haq, who is the President of MAPS-DOL, to speak at their virtual event to share my story. I talked about how it took me many years to embrace my identity as someone in a wheelchair and develop the confidence to advocate for others who are scared to say anything like I was when I was younger. We also had a great discussion talking about providing reasonable accommodations in the workplace to people with all types of disabilities and having more diversity in the workplace, which are things the DOL is actively trying to improve upon by providing educational resources to companies. I was able to share my perspective from when I was younger as an employee going through interviews and working at different companies and now from an employer standpoint managing my business. I specifically talked about how I would find ways to demonstrate and showcase my skills and qualifications at the interviews for employers to focus on how I would be a good fit for their company rather than focusing on my disability, which unfortunately I feel can be an issue today for those who have visible disabilities. I believe that it is very important to have diversity in the workplace where you have people of various backgrounds who think differently who can help companies grow. Thank you again to MAPS-DOL for inviting me to speak and I hope to have more discussions like this in the future! #embracewhatmakesyoudifferent #embraceyouridentity #advocacy #disabilityadvocacy #accomodations #workplaceaccomodations #accessibility #accessibleworkplace #diversityintheworkplace
