It is an absolute privilege to be assuming the role of Chair Designate of the Market Research Society (MRS). My sincere thanks goes out to those who nominated me for this position, and who have continuously shown me the utmost support and encouragement: Sinead Jefferies (FMRS), Babita Earle (FMRS), Steve Phillips, Dr Nick Baker, Ben Hogg, Dr Mark Thorpe and Caroline Wren ⭐ Although this role was not contested through an election, I want to share the key issues I would have advocated for had there been one. These are the initiatives I aim to advance during my term as chair, and I would encourage anyone to get in touch to discuss these or any other topics you believe should be prioritised before I assume the role next year. 1. Technology, including AI ResTech is far from new, but the advancement of Generative AI has brought it into the mainstream, it’s no longer just the realm of the tech enthusiasts to identify and integrate. I have a strong technical background and serve as co-chair of the Association for Survey Computing, a community interest company with over 40 years of history, dedicated to promoting peer-to-peer learning focusing on technology and innovation. My goal is to help MRS to empower every practitioner, regardless of their specialisation, to build the skills and confidence needed to embrace AI and ResTech, fostering a sense of excitement rather than apprehension about collaborating with technology going forward. Additionally, I’d like to work towards strengthening relationships between MRS and technology organisations to amplify these efforts. 2. Data Quality As MD of Cobalt Sky, a ten-time MRS Operations Award winner, I bring proven experience in achieving and maintaining exceptional quality standards. As automation and technology handle more routine tasks, it’s crucial for research practitioners to emphasise their unique value and showcase top-tier research. A cornerstone of quality is data integrity, an issue that has rightly become a growing concern in our sector. I’m a member of the Global Data Quality Initiative, where organisations including MRS, ESOMAR and Insights Association, amongst others, have joined forces to tackle shared challenges. This collaboration is essential, and I’m dedicated to working towards continued progress in this critical area. But data quality extends beyond preventing fraud; it’s about ensuring genuine representation, something I’m deeply committed to. As chair of the MRS Representation in Research group, I led their efforts to reexamine the definition of “Nat Rep”, introducing meaningful changes such as updates to the MRS Code of Conduct around transparency. I’m keen to build on this progress through programmes such as the Inclusion Pledge. By prioritising quality and representation, we can deliver exceptional insights that are not only robust, but also reflective of our diverse world. Thanks all 🙏
Rebecca Cole has been elected chair designate of the Market Research Society (MRS) main board, starting in April 2025: https://lnkd.in/eWSKz3Sn #mrx

Question: What's in store for Property Restoration in 2025? That was the focus of magicplan's breakout inaugural conference last week, 'CAPTURE' - what a great event! I had the honour of unpacking the results and predictions from C&R Magazine and KnowHow's 2024 annual 'State of the Restoration Industry Report' followed by moderating a very engaging panel entitled 'Standards not Mandates', sparking a lively and timely discussion about the opportunity available to the industry through deeper collaboration on the part of technology providers. The panel featured an all-star lineup including Tolga Tari from Canam Systems, C.J. Bailey from PuroClean and Tony Triola from Verisk My Goal was to arm leaders in the room with data-derived insights to maximize the quality and impact of their strategic decisions in 2025. I'm sharing some of the highlights from my opening presentation below. Let's get a conversation going. Which predictions do you agree with? Which do you disagree with? What a great event, and I think the start of many new things! Bravo Andreas Boehm Stefan Geib Allan Bassenden and the whole Magicpan team! If you are determined to set your team up to maximize success in 2025, learn how KnowHow's cutting-edge AI-features can give you an edge: https://lnkd.in/gxPb69mm

Every day GrammaTech is making it easier to transform to memory safe code. This afternoon’s presentation is on inclusion of object-oriented support, further reducing any rationale to persist with memory vulnerable C++. Big credit to Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency , U.S. Department of Justice , National Security Agency and Office of the National Cyber Director, The White House for elevating this as a national priority. And to Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) for supporting GrammaTech’s innovation here. And of course our amazing team that makes it happen. The opportunity to eliminate a major vulnerability class, up to 70% of critical vulnerabilities per Google and Microsoft is hard to ignore. So is continuing to build these vulnerabilities into new code. For systems/programs that have felt compelled to prioritize speed over security, we’re seeing up to 5X faster performance following GrammaTech’s automated migration to #Rust. #securebydesign , #cybersecurity , #memorysafe #softwaresupplychain , #cyberphysicalsystems , #criticalinfrastucture
Check out this abstract for our upcoming presentation by Dr. Thomas Wahl at #HCSS next Wednesday. https://lnkd.in/eniXhE-T #securebydesign, #SoftwareSupplyChainIntegrity
