Yesterday, CCA President & CEO Nella McOsker joined Speaker Robert Rivas, Mayor Karen Bass, Assemblymembers Rick Zbur and Mark Gonzalez, and other leaders in business and law enforcement for a Retail Theft Roundtable. Discussion centered around the Retail Theft Legislative Package passed earlier this year and how implementation will look in Los Angeles. Thank you for amplifying these important issues and we look forward to working together to protect businesses and enhance public safety in our communities.

As many of us prepare for the holidays, we make lists of retailers to visit, products to buy for loved ones, and of course, we check those lists twice to avoid impulse purchases. The nonchalance of this list is disturbing. This was recovered from a shoplifter who successfully concealed products by my colleague Kendell with Cabela's AP in Anchorage. This individual woke up, planned their day around shoplifting, and executed it with clear intent. This is a matter of concern for every customer, retailer, and law enforcement agency. The fact that this person has been successful enough that the threat of arrest or serious prosecution is no longer a deterrent speaks volumes. As we wake up to the well meaning customers driving our businesses thru the holidays we in the asset protection world must make plans and execute on them as well. #checkyourlisttwice #OrganizedRetailCrime #RetailTheft #Shoplifting #ORC #RetailSecurity #RetailLossPrevention #CrimePrevention #RetailTheftPrevention #CrimeInRetail #RetailCrime #StopORC #PreventRetailTheft #TheftPrevention #RetailSafety #LossPrevention #ORCSolutions #RetailProtection #ShopliftingAwareness #CrimeFighting #RetailIndustry

As seen in this CNN report, there is a need for collaborative software like Treuth, which has proven itself to assist federal, state, and local law enforcement in gathering intelligence with the private sector to solve crime. As seen in this report, the biggest take away is the belief that there is no way that law enforcement from around the country can work together in a collaborative environment at the national level. Treuth is currently accomplishing this and can expand as needed across the country. The pending legislation in the US Congress called The Combating Organized Retail Crime Act (CORCA), proposes to provide resources that will establish a new Organized Retail Crime Coordination Center. We are looking forward to working with our law enforcement and retail partners to equip more of them with access to our platform for organized retail crime.
