We had a fantastic turnout at the Ethos display on Tuesday to celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival with our agents and channel partners. Tea, mooncakes, and a construction update from CE Project Manager, Anthony Maughan-Wright, made for a productive afternoon, along with insights from CBRE Residential Projects – Australia agent, Haiyun (Helena) Hu. A great way to come together and share the latest on Ethos!

The Operational Real Estate Festival Advisory Board met earlier this week to discuss this year’s 27th June event. The discussion ranged across the expected and unexpected. Last year, we were taken aback by how controversial the term “operational real estate” was. This year, the chat was more existential for us as conference producers: too many speakers, too few speakers, too short, too long, too general, too granular. Where there was consensus, it was about the need to excite and inspire while delivering information people can act on. These are still forces that work in opposition to each other (there are plenty of informative presentations on subjects like DCF that simultaneously send you to sleep), but that is the challenge in producing an engaging programme. As always, there were some fantastic nuggets which we will use – you will have to turn up on the day to hear these! 🙏We thank all those who so generously gave up their time and to CMS for hosting us. We hope to have our programme ready in the next few weeks. Make sure to follow our page to be the first to know. As we all prepare to usher in 2024, a year of meticulous planning and action management will climax in a spectacular firework display over the River Thames in London. What does it take to pull off this capital city’s acclaimed New Year’s Eve festivities that capture the world’s imagination each year? ⏳ The co-ordinated efforts behind the scenes are monumental but invisible, bringing together diverse organisations and dedicated personnel across security, logistics, production, and city services. As revellers joyfully count down the year’s final seconds, they may not realise the meticulous planning of every launch sequence, performance, laser projection, and pyrotechnic that will explode across stages and the London skies in perfect synchronisation. 🕛 Months of preparation come down to immaculate execution over the final critical hours. The smoothness of London’s celebrations reflects year-round planning led by the Greater London Authority, extensive production rehearsals, hundreds of crew setting up venues and staging in the preceding days, and intense co-ordination on the event night itself. ⏳ Behind the scenes, authorities like the Metropolitan Police, British Transport Police and multiple local councils have collaborated to plan crowd management, public transport, safety protocols, and physical road closures across Westminster and along the Thames. 🕛 Event production crews have focused on choreographing the fireworks launches from three barges on the river, as well as stage programming and technical logistics in Trafalgar Square. Continual rehearsals will culminate in the world's eyes tuning into live coverage of the festivities. ⏳ In the final weeks, security has been intensified, equipment tested, and contingency plans refined. Volunteers have been briefed on their roles. Eventually in the final hours, barriers are put up, sound checks conducted, and crews take their places. 🎆 As Big Ben strikes midnight, the fireworks will launch in perfect synchronisation across central London. Crowds will erupt with elation and belt out the seasonal rendition of ‘Auld Lang Syne’. It takes an entire city coming together in service to create an iconic, quintessentially British New Year's celebration seen and enjoyed around the world! #actionmanagement #projectmanagement #changemanagement #apm #pmi
