You shouldn’t be proud of automating your outreach 👀
Last week, I was about to board a plane when I read this post in which someone from the industry was shouting about how they had automated their outreach to influencers…
And I was like, is this surely something you should be proud of and shouting about publicly?
As someone who’s been in the industry for over 10 years, I can tell you the key to success with influencer marketing is to build relationships. Yes, we are not PR, but we’re definitely not programmatic either, so, if you treat talents like the latter, expect paid media results ONLY.
No over-delivery.
No genuine reviews.
No reduced CPMs.
High fees.
You should never toe the line with just the agreed deliverables, you should push for excellence. The value of a good agency is to go the extra mile, to bring that organic honest content that the client wouldn’t be able to get by itself.
So yeah, being able to automate your outreach is not something to be proud of, being an agency with top relationships is.
