🌟 Home Grown Talent and Patient Care 🌟 CMMC is proud to introduce the first students of our Earn to Learn Surgical Technologist program! Achsah Davis, a medical lab assistant, and Suzanne Keene, a surgical scheduler, are on a six to nine-month journey to become certified surgical technologists. These future technologists will play a vital role in the OR, setting up surgeries, advocating for patients, and supporting the surgical team. With a national shortage of CTS professionals, this program is key to improving patient care and morale. We’re excited to watch Achsah and Suzanne grow in their careers and within our CMH family! In my residency program, post-op X-rays were often used to evaluate the care delivered to patients. Decision-making, procedural, and surgical abilities were judged based on the accuracy of reduction and fixation. When care happened at night, this assessment was done the following morning, usually by others who were home sleeping in the middle of the night. #physiciancoaching #surgeoncoaching #physicianwellness #surgeonwellness #physiciancoach #orthomastodon https://lnkd.in/gdQQ6Vwb

This week will particularly intense. Fight CLI, treat varicose veins and probably stop bleedings or deal with ALI… the daily affairs of the vascular surgeon but also I will be part of the **CCriSP** (Course for Critically Ill Surgical Patients) program organized by the **Royal College of Surgeons of England** (RCSE), taking place at **SSMC** on the **10th and 11th October**. This is my first time participating as faculty, and I couldn’t be more excited! CCriSP is designed to equip healthcare professionals, particularly surgeons and surgical trainees, with the essential skills and knowledge to manage critically ill surgical patients effectively. The course emphasizes key aspects such as: - **Assessment and Management**: Learning to assess and manage critically ill surgical patients, understanding the physiological changes they undergo. - **Advanced Resuscitation Techniques**: Gaining insights into advanced techniques for resuscitation in emergency situations. - **Surgical Decision-Making**: Enhancing decision-making skills in high-pressure scenarios, ensuring optimal patient outcomes. - **Multidisciplinary Collaboration**: Fostering teamwork among healthcare professionals, including surgeons, anesthetists, and nursing staff, to improve patient care. I am particularly excited about the opportunity to share my knowledge and experience with the next generation of surgeons. Teaching and mentoring young professionals is something I am truly passionate about, and I look forward to engaging with participants during the course. #CCriSP #RCSE #SurgeryEducation #CriticalCare #Mentorship #FutureSurgeons

HAPPY HEALTHCARE SIMULATION WEEK! I was recently asked to organize and facilitate a simulation workshop for the nurses at Asian Hospital and Medical Center on Malignant Hyperthermia. So, I created a modified version of the AORN Simulation Scenario on Malignant Hyperthermia. The objectives were to facilitate communication among nurses including other perioperative team members like anesthesiologists, surgeons and pharmacists, to educate nurses on the correct preparation and administration of dantrolene, and to address any additional crisis-related issues. I was surprised to find out that for the nurses, it was their first exposure to simulation throughout their education and training years. But I appreciated how they were really immersed in the simulation and acted like it was the real deal! Moreover, we had a highly productive debriefing session. Everyone expressed gratitude and loved the innovative approach to adult learning! This, in my opinion, is the best way to celebrate Healthcare Simulation Week. When you are making a positive impact in your learners' lives! #SSH #Healthcaresimulation #medicalsimulation #healthcaresimulationph #nursingeducation #medicaleducation

Text Books keep pictures of old practice for years. Marketing material from industry reaches future clinicians at scale, multiple times. Sounds like a small and silly thing to be concerned about, but if the result of poor technique and practice is bombarding the next generation as status quo, how can we expect them to improve practice for our patients. Innovation in technology only increases our potential, But without proper technique and skill, our technology will lead to more harm. it's the little things like this that makes the big difference in real change. In plain approach to transverse target using ultrasound and tail, dressed down with gravity, not up against. Keep that dressing intact. #vascularaccess #doctor #nurse #paramedic
