It’s funny because it’s true and then it becomes sad. Here’s my 2 cents: Yes, the market is rough right now. What is making it rougher, however, is the collision of two opposing beliefs - the first is from young adults graduating from college and thinking they deserve to start at an above-entry postion for the same pay as tenured employees. This is not the market we are in right now, nor is this reasonable. Believe me, I have been there; I graduated with a B.S. in Business Administration and was shocked when 2 months went by and I still had not been hired. I ended up taking a part-time position for a family-owned contruction company and moving my way into a full-time. It took a few months. I optained a Masters degree in Organizational Leadership, and it took a year after this to move up. This is what normal looks like. The second belief, which is the larger of the two, is that managers and leaders should hired people who already know what they are doing and should not have to train and guide. This is absolutely ridiculous. Hire for attitude, be eager to train. If you are blessed enough the be in a position where you get to guide and support followers, stop looking for unreasonable expectations to make your job easier. You have been given a wonderful opportunity to help build next generation’s business opportunities and leaders. Trust in your own abilities and take a chance on people. Your grandchildren will thank you.

POV: You just experienced a stellar hiring process. I recently placed an Early Careers Development Manager for my client, a leading contributor within the sports industry. And they did not disappoint. Here's what made their hiring process so seamless for both myself and, most importantly, the candidates: ✅ Efficient interview stages - the four-stage interview process was streamlined, with the first two stages impressively covered in just one week. ✅ Outstanding comms - the talent team provided timely feedback and was always available to answer candidate queries, with responses typically within 24 hours. ✅ Inviting and professional - interview invites were concise, friendly, and approachable. ✅ Conversational approach - interviews were conversational yet efficiently challenged candidates' thought processes. ✅ Personal touch - after offering my candidate, our client called the successful candidate to address any concerns and further express their interest in her joining the company. 😍 My candidate literally said, and I quote, "I left the interview and just thought, I really, really want to work with these people." And that's what you call a stellar candidate experience.
