Fake it till you make it…
Heard this for decades now in this industry, in leadership I’ve developed my own saying.
Fake it till THEY make it.
Ruggedness is down and sensitivity is up, I hate to say it but even leadership needs to bend a bit to keep these newer guys and gals in the industry.
It’s easy to look at someone like they’re an idiot after asking a question you feel they should know, it’s more difficult to find the proper way to attack the problem without killing ambition or confidence in that person.
It won’t kill you to say that doesn’t look too bad, or nice job. If it needs to be reworked then maybe jump in the machine and demonstrate what you’re looking for.
In short, don’t put journeyman expectations on apprentice hands, don’t forget you were once the idiot inside that machine doing something you shouldn’t have. You’ve got the opportunity to be the leader you wish you would’ve had learning the trade, don’t waste that opportunity.
