𝐅𝐞𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐞𝐱𝐡𝐚𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐝 😫 despite getting enough sleep? That's because sleep alone isn't enough—we need different types of rest to truly recharge. Here's a quick guide to the 7 types of rest every person needs: 𝐏𝐡𝐲𝐬𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐭: Includes both passive (sleeping, napping) and active (yoga, stretching, massage) rest to restore your body. 𝐌𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐭: Take short breaks during the day and clear your mind before bed to avoid mental fatigue. 𝐒𝐞𝐧𝐬𝐨𝐫𝐲 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐭: Unplug from screens and noise, and give your senses a break to reduce sensory overload. 𝐂𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐭: Refresh your creative energy by enjoying nature and the arts. Surround yourself with inspiring images. 𝐄𝐦𝐨𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐭: Be authentic and express your true feelings. Say no when necessary to avoid emotional exhaustion. 𝐒𝐨𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐭: Spend time with supportive people who uplift you. Differentiate between relationships that drain and those that revive. 𝐒𝐩𝐢𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐮𝐚𝐥 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐭: Connect with something greater than yourself through prayer, meditation, or community involvement to find purpose and belonging. Remember, sleep alone won't make you feel fully rested. Embrace these types of rest to truly recharge and prevent burnout. If you're like me, there are days in the week where you have to choose how to spend the precious 90 seconds between back to back meetings where you either race 🏃♀️ 💨 to the bathroom or shove a handful of food towards your face 😋 to keep you going for another 3 hours. I realized recently that my energy, alertness and overall well being is really affected by the latter, and I often choose what's convenient vs. what's actually good for me. AND with my limited mobility, it's really affecting my self talk and way I view myself, which doesn't help anyone. So here are some tips I found that I'm going to implement and I encourage you to take time for yourself to do as well: 1. Stay Hydrated 2. Mindfully Eat - Calendar time for yourself to slow down and sustain your body - even 10 minutes is better than nothing 3. Snack Smartly - Choose snacks for sustained energy 4. Prep in Advance - having "good for you" meals and snacks be a convenience is a game changer! 5. Aim for Balance & Moderation - will I eat some Tajin gummy snacks like my partner Bernard C. Beltran? Yes - but I will also eat some jicama with hummus later. And my good friend Bob is making sure I have the tools to do just that! *I mean, look how good his skeletal system is doing.

Life can feel like a whirlwind sometimes, rushing from one thing to the next. Yet, amidst the daily grind, it's crucial to remember the most important project: ourselves. And, to cultivate the strength and resilience needed to truly thrive. This self-care checklist is a gentle nudge towards practices that nourish your body, mind, and spirit. Imagine starting your day with a cool glass of water, a simple act that awakens your body and sets the tone for hydration. Taking a moment to write down five things you're grateful for shifts your focus to the positive, priming you for a brighter day. Planning your meals for the week is a gift to your future self – a way to ensure nourishing food is readily available, removing one more source of stress. Moving your body, whether through a vigorous workout or a mindful walk in nature, releases endorphins and fosters a sense of well-being. Let music be your medicine! And, nurture your intellect through reading to expand your horizons and sparks new ideas. Remember the power of creative expression! Whether it's painting, writing, singing, or simply coloring – allow yourself to explore and revel in the joy of creating. Sharing a meal with loved ones strengthens bonds and fosters connection, a crucial element of human well-being. Finally, create screen-free time and carve out space for introspection and quiet reflection. Remember, self-care is a necessity. And a journey of continuous exploration. Start here, personalize it, and discover what truly works best for you. #SelfCare #CHOICE2.0
