JP Cronje's dissertation addresses the critical role of entrepreneurial self-efficacy in supporting survival-driven entrepreneurs—those who turn to entrepreneurship out of necessity rather than opportunity. It introduces the Integrated Coaching and Mentoring Entrepreneurial Development (ICMED) Framework, designed to enhance the confidence and skills of these entrepreneurs through a blend of coaching and mentoring. Grounded in Integral Theory, Experiential Learning, and Social Cognitive Theory, the framework provides practical guidelines for developing both general and domain-specific entrepreneurial skills. By offering a holistic and adaptable approach, this study bridges theoretical insights and practical application, equipping survival-driven entrepreneurs to navigate the challenges of early-stage business development. JP Cronje, on behalf of the Faculty of Economic and Management Sciences - Stellenbosch University, congratulations on successfully defending your dissertation! We are so proud!! Below JP is standing with his two proud supervisors, Prof Prof. Nicky Terblanche (PhD) (left), and Marietjie Theron-Wepener (PhD) (right), from the Stellenbosch Business School. #EMSPhDGrad2024

The Expatriate Leaders Advocacy Council (ELAC) discussion at the Leinster Entrepreneurs Meet-Up brought together incredible minds to share their insights on navigating unique industry challenges. Here are some key takeaways: 🚀 Pyn Lim of ECAMS shared her experience in a predominantly male and egoistic industry, where pushing for proper training has been an uphill battle. Despite not being a doctor, she has successfully advocated for ECAMS training as the gold standard. Her perseverance and interpersonal skills have been crucial in overcoming these challenges. 🛠️ One Major Challenge: Finding the right people with the necessary medical knowledge, sales expertise, and aesthetic sense is very difficult. Pyn aims to bridge this gap by hiring individuals with a mix of these skills. 💡 Bassey Duke’s Wisdom: Continuous Learning: "The day you stop learning is the day things die. As an entrepreneur, you have to keep on learning." Bold Decisions: Reflecting on the impact of COVID-19, he emphasised making bold choices when things aren't working, even if it means sleepless nights. Invest in Yourself and Your Team: Being the best version of yourself helps your team excel too. 👩🏫 Pyn's Insight: In an egotistical industry, having a thick skin and strong interpersonal skills are essential. 🏆 Dr. Umar Al-Qadri of the Department of Halal Certification on Success: "Success is being helpful, productive, and providing for your family. True success also involves giving back to society." 💭 Advice from Bassey Duke to his 19-Year-Old self: 1. Think boldly and bravely. 2. Learn from your mistakes. 3. Surround yourself with good people. What a wonderful discussion on the importance of resilience, continuous learning, and the value of giving back. 🌟 Thanks to our Sponsors Corporate Enforcement Authority and One4all Group Bassey Duke, MEng, MBA, CMILT, 🎓 FAIBF | Pyn Lim, BSc MSc Faibf | Shaykh Dr. Umar Al-Qadri #Entrepreneurship #Leadership #ELAC #Innovation #Success Elaine Carroll (BBS, AITI, QFA) | Kapil Khanna

Thank you Elissa Grossman, the USC Marshall School of Business and the Lloyd Greif Center for Entrepreneurial Studies - USC Marshall for an exceptional day of learning, listening, collaborating, and whooping for the #startups and for the #students learning how to ask #investment questions to #founders and how to make a bet on investing. Take aways? - Students and startups rule. Positive, curious, well-prepared, and ready to dive into deep waters. - ASK THE QUESTION. So many folks asked around the question either concerned they would offend the founder or lacking confidence their question was important. Every single time, the question was important and needed to be answered. Math doesn't lie and you need the math to do the investment analysis. - Every expert was a student too. Jai Choi Will Hawthorne Jim McCarthy Paul Orlando Amiah Sheppard, MAIO, collectively have seen 5,000+ startups and made 500+ investments and all of us learned from the day. - Elissa Grossman is the most bad-ass experiential teacher e.v.e.r. Every time I am in one of her programs, I sit in awe at the amount of knowledge transfer she architects. #badassphd

Experienced IT Manager | Reliable Human Centric Leader | Innovative Business Enabler | Curious Digital Entrepreneur | Passionated Marathoner
As part of the MAS Business Administration program at the ZHAW School of Management and Law, we as Ibecx GmbH had the privilege of submitting a case for the development of a business plan. 🎯 Our goal was to fundamentally rethink and critically assess the strategies and plans we have been working on for nearly five years. We asked a dedicated team of five students to help us find answers to the following key questions: 🔹How can we better establish our idea in the #Tourism industry and the #Bike community? 🔹What could a comprehensive #Strategy look like to continuously expand our offerings while further increasing the number of users? 🔹How can we better address the central organizational, time, and financial #Challenges we face? 🔹What conditions need to be created to take our #Startup to the next level successfully? 💡 After three intensive and enriching months, capped by a pitch to investors, we wrapped up this exciting journey last week with a celebratory aperitif to toast to the next steps. The insights and discussions gained throughout this process have significantly reshaped our vision and strengthened our roadmap for the future. 🙏 A heartfelt thank you to the fantastic team with Jaël Keller, Lukas Meyer, Dominique Scheuer, Thomas Birchler, and Andreas Fuchs – working with you was an absolute pleasure, and we wish you all the best in your continued studies and future endeavors! 🚀 Steeve Christen, Max W., Philipp Boksberger, Dr. Kathrin Neumüller, Selina Guhl, Nina Heim, Christian Olivier Graf, Beat Roth, Monica Gontovas, ZHAW International Management Institute

In our recent CEC Monthly Exchange webinar, Dr. Annette Kendall, Jonathan Bell and William King MBA, MAT, discussed the barriers that exist for rural entrepreneurs. Each shared unique perspectives that are shaping the future of entrepreneurship education and practice. Dr. Annette Kendall, an Extension Professor at the University of Missouri, focuses on rural economic development, particularly with a view to creating inclusive environments that harness the unique capabilities of neurodivergent individuals. In the webinar she emphasized the critical role of a supportive ecosystem in rural economic development. Dr. Kendall shared, “In rural communities, the support for an entrepreneur can sometimes be as critical as the internet speed.” Jonathan Bell, a dynamic Gen-Z entrepreneur, shared his transformative journey from pandemic job rejections to establishing his own marketing firm. Bell offered his hot take on technology, “We need to slow down...my generation is getting to a point where we cannot even be in person anymore...I wish that we would be more community driven." William King, a Business and Marketing Professor at Moberly Area Community College, discussed his innovative teaching methods that prepare students for real-world challenges, emphasizing the importance of soft skills, not only for entrepreneurs but also for managing creative employees. “The best way to never have an employee make you money is to tell them their ideas are bad because they're going to stop having ideas, and you stop having growth.” King’s approach to education highlights the necessity of encouragement and practical engagement in learning environments. These discussions are especially relevant as we look forward to the Removing Barriers track at the Connecting Entrepreneurial Communities Conference in Fulton this September, where all three speakers will delve deeper into these topics. 📅 Mark your calendar! Join us at the CEC Conference to gain direct access to these thought leaders. Register soon as seats are limited! Registration link in the comments. 🔗 https://lnkd.in/gdWUe3BF
