53 per cent of the world’s population lacks access to at least one form of social protection. We have a long way to go, but there is hope. Today, as we celebrate the 75th anniversary of the Declaration of Human Rights, join us in turning this hope into action. We ask governments, international institutions, and citizens to demand a #RightToSocialSecurity everywhere, to ensure that everyone can be protected from social and economic distress. #HumanRights75 #socialsecurity #socialprotection #humanrights

The limitations of the two-party system become evident as it often restricts political diversity and narrows the spectrum of ideas and perspectives. This lack of pluralism may hinder innovative solutions and compromise the system’s ability to fully represent the diverse interests and opinions of the population. #EmpowerVotersChoice #DiverseBallotVoices #YourVoteYourChoice #OptionsForDemocracy #InformedVoting #PluralisticBallot #ChoiceInDemocracy #VotersDecide #BallotDiversity #RepresentativeChoices

Launching a new three-part series in the Australia Together Podcast. It's called "Insights into Human Rights and Democracy in Australia," and it contains answers to questions sent to me by Senator Lidia Thorpe after my appearance before the federal Parliamentary Joint Committee on Human Rights last month. It also includes an answer to a question from Committee Chair Josh Burns MP. These are really great questions and the answers go to the heart of how we should understand: (a) the very limited form of democracy we have in Australia, (b) how that is impacting our human rights, and most importantly (c) what we can do to make the Constitution fit for a 21st century democracy – one where everyone has political equality and is secure in all the human rights they need. https://lnkd.in/gddWYHag
