Yes, the Centre introduced the 𝐏𝐮𝐛𝐥𝐢𝐜 𝐄𝐱𝐚𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 (𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐟 𝐔𝐧𝐟𝐚𝐢𝐫 𝐌𝐞𝐚𝐧𝐬) 𝐀𝐜𝐭, 2024 to tackle leaks, malpractices, and organized cheating in recruitment exams like UPSC and SSC, as well as entrance tests such as NEET, JEE, and CUET.
Under this law, conducting fake examinations, issuing fake admit cards or offering letters to cheat for financial gain are also offences.
𝐏𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐬𝐡𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 𝐔𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐀𝐜𝐭 ⚖️
- 𝐔𝐧𝐟𝐚𝐢𝐫 𝐌𝐞𝐚𝐧𝐬: Imprisonment for 3-5 years and a fine of up to ₹10 lakh.
- 𝐎𝐫𝐠𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐳𝐞𝐝 𝐂𝐫𝐢𝐦𝐞𝐬: Crimes involving exam authorities, service providers, or institutions are punishable by 5-10 years in prison and a minimum fine of ₹1 crore.
- 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐭𝐲 𝐅𝐨𝐫𝐟𝐞𝐢𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞: Agencies can attach and forfeit properties of institutions involved in organized crime to recover examination costs.
