Medical Director | Internal Medicine and Integrative Medicine Physician | Managed care | Advocating for an Integrated Approach to Health and Healthcare.
We need policy and change It took me some time to post my thoughts on the horrific crime against the female doctor in India- I was so shaken that I didn't know where how to start...but now that I've had some time to process it, here's what I'm thinking: 1. I support the demands of the Indian medical association and all women physician colleagues in India and abroad. 2. Women physicians of Indian origin want justice to be served and policy changes made. These changes were long pending and its time to something before there is another victim. 3. An appeal to male colleagues who are in higher positions in physician organizations- 👉please provide the platform for your female colleagues to speak with media. I'm disappointed by the interview conducted by an international channel where a male colleague leading a physician organization was not able to effectively convey our thoughts. 👉Security issues during med school training and beyond are a lived experience for many women physicians- Let them participate in these interviews with you. For decades women's health has been deprioritized, underfunded and under-researched. The impact of this has been devastating, particularly for gynaecological care provision in this country. Long waiting lists are leaving thousands of women struggling with symptoms such as extreme pain, heavy menstrual bleeding and incontinence for too long. These long waits can result in unnecessary emergency admission to hospital, or more complex treatment needs. RCOG President Ranee Thakar explores the barriers women face accessing vital gynaecology services, and what must be done to improve care, in a new editorial with @MediaplanetUK - read it here: https://brnw.ch/21wIiMO #HealthAwareness2024 #womenshealthmatters #womenshealth

*New from the Menopause Symposium* Management of Premature Ovarian Failure or Insufficiency can be challenging. The debate on the benefits of HRT compared to the combined contraceptive pill to improve longterm health is unsettled. In this episode myself and Vikram Sinai Talaulikar discuss the results of an interesting RCT by Cartwright et al that evaluated the benefits of HRT vs COCP on bone health among women with POF. Many thanks to all who are supporting us with shares, likes, and comments on social media platforms. #menopausesymposium #menopausematter #menopausehealth https://lnkd.in/eNCty8Fp
