Today, we honor the memory of those we lost on 9/11 and pay tribute to the bravery of the first responders. We stand united in remembrance and resilience.

What makes military veterans effective legislators? They don’t let politics stand in the way of getting stuff done. In 2023, we worked with For Country Caucus members Zach Nunn and Jeff Jackson to get the Reserve Component Parental Leave Parity Act passed through the National Defense Authorization Act. This bill ensures that Reserve and National Guard component service members have access to the same parental leave policies as their active duty counterparts. Both Nunn and Jackson are currently still serving in the Reserves and National Guard, respectively. Because of their shared experiences and commitment to their fellow service members, they were able to put their political differences aside and work together to get the job done. Getting Republicans and Democrats to work together may not be the norm in Washington, but it's the norm for With Honor Action and the bipartisan veterans of the For Country Caucus. As a veteran, September 11 holds a profound significance for me, as it does for many of us. On this day, we remember the lives lost, the families forever changed and the countless heroes who stepped forward without hesitation. Our armed forces, first responders and those willing to sacrifice their lives exemplify the very best of what it means to be American. This day is not just a reminder of the tragic events that unfolded but a testament to the strength, resilience and unity of our nation. In an election year, it's easy to focus on our differences, to get caught up in the heated debates and the division that seems to follow. But September 11 reminds us of a fundamental truth: we are united in so many ways. Our shared values – especially those of freedom and security – are safeguarded by the brave men and women who serve our country, both at home and abroad. Let's take a moment today to pause, reflect and honor those who have given so much. And let us remember the importance of coming together, of standing united and of showing gratitude for the freedoms we enjoy. Today, and every day, we owe a debt of thanks to those who protect and serve, ensuring that our nation remains strong and free. May we always remember, and may we always be united. #NeverForget #September11 #UnitedWeStand #Veteran #FinancialAdvisor #HonoringHeroes #USA

In a city acclaimed for its diversity and innovation, it is both alarming and unacceptable that over 26,000 veterans who valiantly served our nation are neglected and overlooked. San Francisco’s residents must urgently advocate for this marginalized community. As we approach the mayoral election, the conspicuous absence of comprehensive initiatives supporting our veterans is troubling, with no candidates prioritizing this critical issue. Our city, a symbol of progressivism, must now convert ideals into concrete action for our military community. We must amplify our veterans’ voices in the halls of governance. Each candidate should be called to present detailed plans to address essential challenges: healthcare access, mental health support, housing stability, and job placement. San Francisco must embody the principle that no veteran should ever feel abandoned or underserved.

September 11, 2024 The border crisis has been moved, by the Biden/Harris Administration, across America to your state where your state tax dollars will have to deal with all the medical, hospital, educational, housing, crime and other costs for the millions of illegals. An army of terrorist “gotaways” are now in America. An estimated 100,000 gotaways a month, 1,200,000 a year. Are they criminals, sex predators, mentally ill, human traffickers, gang members, drug cartel members, terrorists or sleeper cells? An army of terrorists now in America will make the 911 World Trade Center look like a warm-up and no one is paying attention! Only 19 terrorists to take out the World Trade Center and we have over one million, per year, “gotaways” that crossed the border. Just think what 190,000 terrorists will be able to do. The border and America are not secure. Our cities are not safe. America is not safe.
Today, we remember the immense sacrifices made on September 11th, a day that forever changed our nation. We honor the bravery of the first responders, the strength of the survivors, and the memory of those who perished. On this Patriot Day, let us stand together in unity, as we always have, to remember and to proclaim: Never Forget.

Imagine a place where the silent sacrifices of military families are not only recognized but also actively supported. Where nature's tranquility heals, and the collective voice of a community advocates for the unseen and unheard. This is the story of the Betsy Eves Group—a narrative of how passion, when paired with purpose, can ignite a beacon of hope for military spouses, caregivers, and their families. But why does this work matter? Because behind every uniform, there is a family—a network of individuals whose love, resilience, and sacrifices underpin the very freedoms we cherish. Our efforts go beyond mere acknowledgment; they strive to ensure that these families are empowered, supported, and honored not just in words, but in every action we take. The challenges facing military families continue to evolve, and so too must our efforts to support them. Our annual letter is not just a reflection of what we've achieved but a clarion call to action. It's an invitation to join us in this mission of hope, healing, and empowerment. To stand with us as we advocate for change, nurture connections, and celebrate the unwavering spirit of our military families. Download and read our full 2024 Annual Letter today. Let it be a reminder of the impact we can achieve together, and the enduring power of a community united in purpose and compassion. https://lnkd.in/gHC2Q5Vm

Divorce is complex, more so for those in uniform. For those in the armed services, navigating a divorce comes with specific considerations under Illinois law. This law covers everyone, whether you're in the Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force, Coast Guard, and Reserve, or members of the National Guard who are mobilized for more than 30 consecutive days. Understanding your rights and navigating the specifics of military divorce is crucial. At Denis M. We learn and grow through building self-awareness, in behavioural competence and emotional intelligence, by understanding and comprehending that hate, racism, exclusion, and ableism, drag everyone down in a race to the bottom. There are innumerable negative consequences when we lack compassion for ourselves and Others. We reach our collaborative and infinite human potential by realizing that we are all worthy, dignified, awesome, integral, wonderful, intelligent, effortful, and capable Human Beings. Apologize when you have wronged another Person: Aim at taking absolute personal and professional responsibility for your own goodness of being human and we will attain the available betters in creating a completely caring, loving, equal, and respectfully good society. We rise by lifting and supporting Others.

Today, I was deeply moved by the courage displayed by those who testified at the hearing for the proposed class action lawsuit tackling racism in the Canadian Forces. This lawsuit aims to address and combat the racism that many members have faced within the Forces. As someone who has experienced racism in uniform, hearing your testimonies made me feel less alone. Your bravery in sharing your stories is paving the way for a more inclusive and equitable environment for all of us. I hope that by speaking out, you find some measure of healing. For those who want to learn more about this important issue and the class action lawsuit, please visit Forces Action. Social Impact | Speaker & Consultant| Advocate for Foreign-born Military Spouses, Mental Health, DEI
The Work Opportunity Tax Credit (WOTC) can significantly benefit military spouses by incentivizing employers to hire them. This tax credit reduces an employer's federal tax liability, encouraging companies to consider military spouses, who often face employment challenges due to frequent relocations. Ultimately, WOTC can enhance job opportunities for military spouses, supporting their career continuity and financial stability.
As Military Spouse Appreciation Day approaches, let's take a moment to recognize the resilience, talents, and sacrifices within our remarkable community. As a military spouse myself, I know firsthand the challenges we face. That's why I'm thrilled to announce that I am partnering with Kimber Hill , PMP, MSIS and VirtForce to urge legislators to include military spouses in the Work Opportunity Tax Credit. This is a powerful step towards breaking down employment barriers for a community that faces unemployment greater than 5x the national average. Join us in making our voices heard and honoring our community with purpose and action. If you've been positively impacted by a military spouse, we invite you to RSVP to our special event on May 7. We'll be on Zoom all day, ready to guide you through contacting your government officials. And the best part? The entire process takes less than five minutes. Let's advocate for real change and show our appreciation for the military spouses who make incredible sacrifices every day. RSVP now at https://lnkd.in/dars9z2Z
