Check out our latest 'Learning Curve' blog post as we take a closer look at Educator Registered Apprenticeships and Traditional Student Teaching 📚✏️ We all know amazing teachers who went through the traditional student teaching pathway. However, this model often limits access for those who can't afford to work for free. Additionally, the length of time in the classroom can vary. Educator Apprenticeships offer an opportunity to break down these barriers while providing high-quality on-the-job training and greater access for all aspiring educators. #Educators #Teachers #StudentTeaching #EducatorApprenticeship

We recently analysed data from over 160,000 apprentices during the 2023/24 academic year. Our findings reveal that apprentices who need to complete functional skills qualifications in English and Math struggle more than those who start with the required GCSEs. This gap often leads to overdue programmes, demotivation, and higher withdrawal rates. Research suggests that many of these learners are likely to have learning difficulties and other barriers that present challenges to successfully completing their apprenticeship programme. Screening tools such as Aptem Assess can help identify previously unknown support needs and guide the use of effective support strategies to ensure learner success. National Apprenticeship Week 2024: Recently, the social mobility committee announced 41% of parents in 2024 are educated to degree level compared to 30% ten years ago. Now, I could be drawing a casual link between the two - but it’s very convenient that when apprenticeships increase by 242% from 2016 we see an 11% increase in parents being educated to degree level. It really does show the potential power of apprenticeships in contributing to higher education for all age groups. Funnily enough, in 2021/22, according to the latest government statistics, 47% of apprentices were over the age of 25. Social mobility issues don’t exist just in school leavers, but also in adults wanting to make change for their families too. And apprenticeships can help adults to reach high-level qualifications which were once seen as unobtainable. #nationalapprenticeshipweek #dei

One year ago, Ohio announced a new Teacher Apprenticeship Program. 📣 Back in 2023 Governor DeWine outlined the program as “an innovative way to help those already working in schools, such as teachers’ aids, library specialists, or bus drivers, obtain their teaching license,” Also highlighting that “School districts are able to identify potential future teachers who are already a part of their communities and provide them the support and guidance they need to succeed.” 🎖 The goal? To support Ohio’s K-12 school districts and institutions of higher education as they develop apprenticeships that: ✅ Provide flexibility to allow for students starting at different levels of experience and schooling to be successful. ✅ Provide credit for prior experience to count for both related instruction and on-the-job training requirements. ✅ Provide wage increases as skills and experience are attained. ✅ Pair candidates with teachers who will model best practices while giving teachers an opportunity to take on a mentorship role while remaining in the classroom. 👉 Read the full overview: https://lnkd.in/e-8TEvnc #workforcesolutions #teacherapprenticeship #apprenticeshipprogram Ohio Department of Higher Education Ohio Innovation Exchange - Initiative of the Ohio Department of Higher Education Office of Ohio Governor Mike DeWine Ohio Department of Job and Family Services Ohio Department of Education and Workforce Ohio Governor's Office of Workforce Transformation

🚨 COMING TOMORROW 🚨 Despite there have been some headline grabbing announcements such as National Service, VAT on private school fees, nursery and childcare places, the Advanced British Standard and apprenticeships/skills training vs ‘low value’ higher education - specifics have not particularly been fleshed out on the main stage with regards education potential education policies of the political parties. However the major parties dropped their manifestos this week, which helps provide an insight into the key themes that they have planned for the education sector if they end up in power, all the way from nursery and childcare to higher and lifelong education. Coming tomorrow at The Mark Scheme (https://lnkd.in/ejU_MGFJ) we will take a dive into the manifesto promises of the major parties, provide some opinion and analysis of potential impact and effectiveness, and discuss a few ideas that we’d like to see parties pursue. #education #teachers #schools #primaryschools #secondaryschools #furthereducation #apprenticeships #highereducation #universities #generalelection #2024election #conservativeparty #labourparty #liberaldemocrats #manifestos #ukpolitics
