This is a summary of our process. 👇
👉 First, we chlorinate aluminum to make aluminum chloride (AlClx). At Bernex, our advanced aluminum chlorinator mixes pure aluminum pellets with a flow of hydrochloric acid (HCl) at low temps.
👉 The AlClx then goes into the process reactor through heated pipes.
👉 When heated, hydrogen (H2) and carbon dioxide (CO2) combine to create aluminum oxide (Al2O3).
With Bernex systems, we have managed every step of the process. Our tech lets us fine-tune crystal formation and grain alignment to achieve the exact structure we need. Since perfecting this precision with our own tools and software in 1972, we have continued to innovate. Over the past decade, advancements in sensors and software have further refined our ability to control grain orientation.

Learn about the latest technology in hydrogen production with Technetics Group's Porous Transport Layer Material (PTL). PTL is a crucial component in the electrolyzer stack and allows for the removal of oxygen gas from water during the electrolysis process. Our PTL product is based on our Feltmetal® product line with over 50 years of experience in the aerospace industry, making it highly reliable and stable over time. Get more insights on PTL's role in the electrolyzer and hydrogen value chain by listening to our episode of “Getting Technetical” with Doctor William Mustain from the University of South Carolina.

Balance of plant is one of the key challenges in designing a solid oxide electrolyzer cell stack. This often comes down to a trade-off between system efficiency and cost. 📈
The use of simulation tools like AVL CRUISE™ M can help optimize these competing factors of cost and a well-balanced, efficient system.
It can assist in defining the system, and later reduce expensive testbed time by covering several use cases, like high altitude operation, leakages, isolation, transient warm-up cycle and especially control function development.

Why is this such huge news? Because Topsoe's SOEC electrolyzers can make up to 30% more hydrogen than low-temperature electrolyzers with the same amount of renewable energy. With demand for green electrons higher than ever, this is a crucial advantage for accelerating toward a net zero economy. #LetsDecarbonize#GoSolve
🚀 As promised a few weeks ago, I'm thrilled to share some remarkable news about our Solid Oxide Electrolysis Cell (SOEC) performance! 🚀
If you combine decades of research with incredibly dedicated people and strong values you can create magic 😊
That is exactly what we have proven we are capable of. After three months of intensive testing, we're thrilled to reveal the groundbreaking results from our Solid Oxide Electrolysis Cell (SOEC) test center in Frederikssund. The demo, featuring 12 stacks and 1200 cells, showcased a combined stack power of 350 kW, maintained with exceptional stability and efficiency over 2250 hours of operation.
For us this mirrors the spirit instilled by our founder Haldor Topsoe – if you have the skills to solve some of the worlds most difficult challenges you are obliged to commit yourself.

We investigated the effects of incorporating a Molybdenum diselenide (MoSe2) interfacial layer between the Cu(In,Ga)Se2 (CIGS) absorber layer and Molybdenum (Mo) back contact in thin-film solar cells. Using SCAPS-1D simulation, our study explored the impact of MoSe2 thickness, bandgap energy, electron affinity, and carrier concentration variations, combined with absorber layer Ga grading on efficiency. Results showed improved efficiency and carrier collection with optimized MoSe2 and graded bandgap profiles, achieving a peak power conversion efficiency of 28.06%.

When my boss says it is remarkable, I do not disagree.
I know it gets a little nerdy for those not in the field (including yours truly) - but what you need to know is (as a minimum): our solution to produce green fuels, which can replace green house gas emitting fuels, has reached an unparallel milestone that cements that we are on the right trajectory to decarbonize the energy-intensive industries!!
For the nerdy (and exciting) details - please follow the link to the post to the link to the announcement! 😎

Last year, I had the privilege of being part of the team that introduced our latest real-time #XRF solution, the Epsilon Xline. This solution is capable of measuring small differences in elemental loadings on catalytic coated membranes. It supports fuel cell manufacturers in optimizing the efficiency of precious metal usage, bringing the hydrogen economy a step further. This year, I'm eager to explore its value in other #R2R markets together with our customers.
