Breakthrough in rapid cooling for BASE antiprotons In an article published by the Physical Review Letters, the Baryon Antibaryon Symmetry Experiment (BASE) presents a new experimental device that makes it possible to reduce the cooling time of antiprotons from 15 hours to just 8 minutes. Using a double Penning cooling trap, this considerable gain makes it possible to carry out measurements of the fundamental properties of antiprotons with unmatched precision and is a new milestone in the collaboration’s study of #antimatter. That is figuratively "cool". I am curious does the anti-proton have reverse or similiar weak and strong forces as the proton?

Impressive breakthrough! As a technical engineering student with an interest in cooling- technology, particularly cryogenics, it’s exciting to see how this innovative use of a double Penning cooling trap has drastically reduced the cooling time for antiprotons. Looking forward to seeing how this technology will evolve in the future. 👌

Did you use notch filter cooling?
