Today's CERN openlab Summer Student Lecture is about 'Foundation Models'. #FoundationModels, also known as large-scale self-supervised models, have revolutionised the field of #ArtificialIntelligence. These models, such as #ChatGPT and #AlphaFold, are pre-trained on massive amounts of #Data and can be fine-tuned for a wide range of downstream tasks. Hear from Sofia Vallecorsa (CERN) about the key concepts behind foundation models and their impact on #MachineLearning systems. Learn about: ➡ Foundation models: what is it, challenges and opportunities. ➡ Strategies for training foundation models: self-supervision and pre-training. ➡ How to reach #Adaptability and #FineTuning. Director of the QUT Centre for Robotics, ARC Laureate Fellow, ATSE Fellow. Positioning Systems for Robots and Autonomous Vehicles. Expert Speaker & Advisor on Autonomous Vehicles, AI & Robotics. Educational entrepreneur.
If you're at the European Conference on Computer Vision (#ECCV2024) this week in lovely Milano, Italy (jealous!), and you're interested in all things #localization and #VisualPlaceRecognition, please swing by Ahmad Khaliq's paper: "VLAD-BuFF: Burst-aware Fast Feature Aggregation for Visual Place Recognition" during Poster Session 4 on Wednesday. Full paper details: https://lnkd.in/eQc6SQ_n Led by Ahmad, this is work principally supervised by Sourav Garg (Australian Institute for Machine Learning (AIML)) with contributions from co-authors Ming Xu (The Australian National University), Stephen Hausler (CSIRO's Data61) and myself (QUT Centre for Robotics). I like that this paper also encapsulates the flow of amazing research talent, nurtured in our lab through PhD and postdoc positions, supported by research body, government and industry projects and grants, into the wider ecosystem: 🔹 Ahmad is a current remote PhD with Sourav at AIML and ourselves at QUT 🔹 Sourav was a PhD student then postdoc in our lab, now at AIML in Adelaide 🔹 Stephen was a PhD student then postdoc in our lab, now at CSIRO Data61 in Brisbane 🔹 Ming was a PhD student in our lab, now at ANU in Canberra Thanks to an ARC Laureate Fellowship, the Centre for Augmented Reasoning at the Australian Institute for Machine Learning and the QUT Centre for Robotics at QUT for their support of this research. #VPR #localization #mapping #representations #computervision #robotics #robots #ECCV #research #publishing #conference

UNESCO INDIA-AFRICA INTERNATIONAL HACKATHON FINALIST 🏅| SIH'22 Winner 🏆 |SIH'23 Runner🏅 |Data Science Enthusiast| Former Intern at India Meteorological Department| Learner & Researcher|Statophile|Analytical Thinker
Hello Connections 😊 I am happy to post this, our Smart India Hackathon 2022 Winning project was filed for "Design Patent" on 23/12/2022. https://lnkd.in/grXZaJYr The Invention "Bias Correction of NWP Model Temperature Forecasts for Cities Using Deep Learning" is an software that reduces the bias in the predicted temperature values by the NWP Model using an ensemble model of Multi-Layer Perceptron(MLP), Long Short Term Memory(LSTM) and Gated Recurrent Unit(GRU) that helps us to predict an minimum biased maximum and minimum temperature. I thank the India Meteorological Department for providing us the Data that was essential for training the models and building this software. I am grateful for my Team Mentor Dr.S.Samundeswari .for guiding us and supporting our team. I also thank my team mates SHREYA S, Adhish Sekar, Morrven R, Susmitha R, ANUSHREE K for their valuable contribution. #designpatent #patent #invention #Deeplearning

📢 SCIENTIFIC PUBLICATION available | MOCA: Self-supervised Representation Learning by Predicting Masked Online Codebook Assignments → Self-supervised learning can be used for mitigating the greedy needs of Vision Transformer networks for very large fully-annotated datasets. Different classes of self-supervised learning offer representations with either good contextual reasoning properties, or invariance to image perturbations. 🌐 In this work, researchers propose a single-stage and standalone method, MOCA, which unifies both desired properties using novel mask-and-predict objectives defined with high-level features (instead of pixel-level details). ✍ EXA4MIND consortium member Antonín Vobecký from Czech Technical University in Prague and Valeo, together with other researchers from Valeo and Valeo.ai. 📖 Read it here: https://lnkd.in/dYbMcv7N #selfSupervisedLearning #Datasets #Codebook #ScientificResearch #EXA4MIND

Hey everyone! I am so excited and just can't contain it. Our project, AquaCycleTech really stood out at the ReachSci Hackathon. We are, among the three! 🌟 It's not about winning; it's the experience that has been truly eye opening. I have learned never to underestimate my ideas or undervalue them.. You know what? When you are racing against time it's amazing what you can accomplish. Those intense moments really bring out our brilliance. Listening to perspectives has been incredibly valuable. It expands your mind in many ways. I have taken notes on every bit of feedback no matter how small because that is where real growth happens. Remember, feeling inexperienced at the beginning is completely normal. Everyone starts from scratch. That is absolutely okay. We are incredibly grateful, to Reachsci for giving us such a platform. We extend our heartfelt thanks to our advisors for their expertise unwavering support and invaluable guidance throughout the contest. Your wisdom played a role in the development of our solution. I want to give a shout out to my team for their unwavering dedication, collaborative spirit and infectious enthusiasm all of which were instrumental in making AquaCycleTech a reality. Each team member made contributions, to bringing this project to life. #ReachSci #hackathon #growthmindset #teamjourney #sustainability #learning #collaboration #ReachSci #hackathon #global #announcement #teams #team #stem #science #technology #engineering #mathematics #cambridge #university #topic #research #researchers #hackathonexperience #hackathonwinners #winners #biotechnology
