🌟 Ensuring language access in healthcare is vital for improving health outcomes and achieving equity. 🌟 Patients who speak a language other than English face lower access to preventive care and poorer health outcomes. By understanding patient language preferences, implementing a language access plan, using professional interpreters, and translating materials, healthcare organizations can take positive steps toward bridging these gaps. Let’s prioritize language access so everyone receives the care they deserve. Kristin shares more: https://lnkd.in/e2Ed7Brm #healthequity #languageaccess #healthcare

Patients who don’t speak the local language often have less access to healthcare services and face poorer health outcomes than patients speaking the language. For instance, for patients with low language proficiency, it may be challenging to set up follow-up appointments, refill prescriptions, and adhere to medical instructions, which can lead to poor treatment adherence and poor disease management. The first step to addressing potential language barriers is to be able to capture that information and ensure that it is not only shared across care teams, but is used to tailor workflows. The Arine platform can integrate data fields which include race, ethnicity and language preferences for both written and spoken languages. "One legitimate reason researchers may not include language as a demographic in their studies is inconsistent language data collection. Patient language preference data are often missing or data-entry systems have limited patient language preference options. Clinicians may input English as an individual's preferred language if the patient can “get by” in English or if there is a family member who can provide ad hoc interpretation. This documentation practice poses major safety risks, in that misinterpreted medical information can lead to worse health outcomes. For these reasons, people with language needs are often undercounted in large datasets based on medical chart data." https://lnkd.in/gU7YRbMu

This JAMA Network Open study further points to the importance of communicating with patients in their preferred language. With roughly 1 in 5 people in the US speaking a language other than English at home, providers must have the ability to converse in multiple languages to improve patient access, engagement, and adherence/compliance. That's why Dialog Health includes a powerful language feature that allows users to easily select from an extensive list of languages across various character sets for the two-way text messages they send to patients, staff, caregivers, and others. #patientcommunication #patientengagement #patientaccess #healthliteracy #texting #textmessaging #LetsTalkAboutText

Helping Life Sciences & Pharma Thrive with Expert Spanish Translations (US & LATAM) | Leading a Talented Team at Verssalo
Stop language barriers in healthcare. Here's what we don't need: 1. Miscommunication with patients due to language differences. 2. Unnecessary frustration caused by cultural misunderstandings. 3. Compliance issues due to ignorance of regional health regulations. 4. Inaccessible medical information for non-native speakers. Here's what we need: → Clear and concise communication tailored to various demographic groups. → Understanding of cultural nuances and medical terminology specific to each region. → Compliance with all regional healthcare regulations. → Enhanced accessibility of medical information to all patients. Stop letting language differences hinder patient care. Stop compromising on the quality of service due to cultural misinterpretations. Stop risking regulatory compliance by not adapting to regional healthcare norms. Healthcare translation is the key to providing a seamless patient experience, irrespective of cultural and linguistic backgrounds. It is not just about converting words; it's about bridging gaps, building relationships, and ensuring everyone has access to high-quality healthcare information. -- #HealthcareTranslation #MedicalTranslation
