Reminder: Not all good interpreters are good translators and vice versa. Interpreters must have strong memory and good attention span. Quick reflexes and divided attention are also Inevitable for a person who wants to work as an interpreter.

The “undercover” interpreter As interpreters, we strive to provide the best service possible to our clients. However, there may be times when someone is watching and listening to us without our knowledge. This "undercover" interpreter could be anyone from a patient's family member to a chaperone at a school event. They may hear words and assume they must be interpreted literally, causing noise and disturbance. This seems to happen more often when we work remotely using the consecutive mode. Have you experienced this? Let's discuss in the comments. #interpreting #consecutivemode #languageaccess

What do this guy and an interpreter have in common? They are both, more or less, invisible. Let me explain. Interpreters act as an extension of the speaker, serving as a bridge. They don't interject with personal comments, thoughts, emotions, or impressions. Instead, they provide a factual summarization of what the speaker is saying in real-time, acting as an impartial conduit. So, in essence, they are more or less invisible! Need one of our "invisible" superheroes at your next event or meeting? Contact UNO today to partner with professional interpreters, whether in-person or virtually, covering over 250 languages. It's quite magical! https://lnkd.in/eZHeRcy4 #interpreters #professionalinterpreters #multilingualcommunication

Who makes a good interpreter? • Not the son or daughter of the patient • Not the kid who had high school Spanish only • Not the well-meaning person who lived abroad for a year Relying on unqualified people can lead to misunderstandings and poor outcomes. The best interpreters are trained and experienced and have certain specific areas of expertise, like legal or healthcare. Many states have licensing and certification requirements for interpreters. ➡️ DM us if you need help finding a qualified, vetted, specialized interpreter for your needs. #Languageservices #languageaccess #interpretation #translation #interpreter #languageinterpreter #professionainterpreter #qualifiedinterpreter #experiencedinterpreter #interpretercertification #misunderstandingsininterpretation #interpreterspecialization #languageaccessibility
