CertiK Supports New Stablecoin Regulations in Hong Kong!🏦 The Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) and Financial Services and Treasury Bureau (FSTB) have unveiled a proposed regulatory regime for stablecoin issuers, focusing on fiat-referenced stablecoins (FRS). We have actively participated in the consultation process, joining 108 submissions from various stakeholders. We support the key proposals, which include: Full Asset Backing: Stablecoins must be fully backed by high-quality, liquid assets at all times. Robust Management: Strict criteria for managing reserve assets to protect user confidence and financial stability. Transparency: Detailed disclosures and regular independent audits to ensure trust and accountability. The proposal has garnered broad support from various stakeholders, emphasizing the critical need for a well-regulated environment to foster sustainable innovation in the stablecoin ecosystem. The HKMA and FSTB will continue to engage with industry stakeholders to refine this framework, balancing innovation with the necessary safeguards to build a resilient financial ecosystem.
