Nuclear power plants are now being judged more on how they perform rather than following strict rules. This makes using advanced computer models very important. These models help test how safe and effective nuclear plants will be, saving time and money. As regulations evolve, enterprises must manage complex compliance documentation efficiently to meet new standards. Document automation, such as Adlib’s solutions, could simplify the submission and management of safety and performance reports, reducing delays and ensuring continuity in regulatory approval processes. https://lnkd.in/gAK7UmXW #regulations #energy #nuclear #compliance #performance

“The programme to restart the Palisades nuclear power plant in Michigan is now in the inspections and maintenance phase and remains on schedule, Holtec International said in its latest update. Meanwhile, the US regulator has been petitioned to codify regulations for restarting shuttered nuclear power plants. Recent progress at the plant, in Covert Township, has included initial accreditation for Holtec's operations and maintenance and technical training programmes, requalification of 26 former Palisades licensed operators, significant workforce growth, completion of chemical cleaning of the primary coolant system , and comprehensive reactor vessel internal inspections. The chemical cleaning has "had a dramatic effect on further improving the plant’s occupational radiation safety metrics", Holtec said.” #SustainingEnergyInnovation #Leadership +#Innovation #CleanEnergy #Nuclear #NuclearEnergy #Energy #AllEmissionsMatter #AllTheAboveEnergy #NECenergy #EntropicQuantumUncertainty

New Industry Association For Maritime Nuclear Launched A global group of leading companies with a common interest in developing nuclear energy solutions for the maritime sector have announced the formation of Nuclear Energy Maritime Organization (NEMO). By bringing together stakeholders with relevant expertise, NEMO aims to assist nuclear and maritime regulators in the development of appropriate standards and rules for the deployment, operation and decommissioning of floating nuclear power. NEMO will provide expert guidance and promote the highest safety, security, and environmental standards in the development of this nascent industrial sector, fostering collaboration, knowledge sharing, and advocacy among its members and stakeholders. Advanced nuclear technologies deployed at sea can reduce environmental impact, enhance social responsibility, and increase economic competitiveness. NEMO aims to provide a platform for its members to network and facilitate a functional connection between regulators to foster development and exchange best practices. NEMO will be headquartered in London and will officially start its proceedings in 2Q 2024. NEMOs inaugural chairman, Dr. Mamdouhel-Shanawany, former head of the IAEA Safety Assessment Section and Global Nuclear Directorat Lloyd’s Register, said: “We are very excited to launch NEMO, which we believe will be a valuable and influential voice for floating nuclear power. We invite all stakeholders who share our vision and values to join us and become part of this dynamic and forward-looking alliance.” Membership of NEMO is open to companies with a bona-fide link to the floating nuclear power segment and who meet the organization’s membership criteria, which include a commitment to sustainability, innovation, and excellence. The organization plans to hold regular events, workshops, webinars, and publications for its members and the wider public. The organisation also intends to collaborate with other industry associations, government bodies, academic institutions, and civil society organisations to advance the cause offloading nuclear power.HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering Co., Ltd. The effort in the late 2010s to keep nuclear plants open in tough market conditions fell short in a couple key places. With a growing market and strong policy I am hopeful the tide is turning and we can bring these clean energy work horses back online. Restarting recently retired units and extending the life of all units will be a key bridge to the deployment of new clean energy generation as the grid further decarbonizes in the face of growing demand. #nuclear

Westinghouse Electric Company initiated the General Design Assessment (GDA) of the AP300™ Small Modular Reactor (SMR) in the UK this month, after applying for the same process with the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) nine months earlier. This duplication of efforts and costs could be avoided if the nuclear industry adopted the international standards and practices (SARPs) developed by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), which allow for the recognition and acceptance of different national regulations. This would enable a more economical and efficient approval of a single nuclear design that could be deployed globally, similar to how airlines operate across different jurisdictions without needing to certify their aircrafts as new.

Lifetime Achievement Award at Marquis Who's Who,Honored by IAOTP as Top Power Plant Consultant of the Year for 2020, Lifetime Achievement Award Honoree 2022 by IAOTP,Fellow American Biographical Institute
Good News for ever increasing Global need for CLEAN Energy.! Westinghouse is a Leading Global NSSS Suppliers with Full/Complete Range of Nuclear Products- Large Reactors (AP1000); Small Reactors (AP300); Micro Reactors (e-Vinci); Fuel; REfurbishments; & Operating Plants Services.(Majority of the World's Nuclear Reactors are PWR - with Westinghouse PWRs Dominating.!) REGARDING Westinghouse CEO Patrick Fragman said recently, “There are SOME American UTILITIES which are very seriously TALKING with us about new AP1000s.” [Emphasis Added] My 2-Cents: (1) Hope TALKING Results into PLANS.! (2) Plans Turn out to be some Actual Orders/Contracts.! Btw: As Part of Periodic Update of my Largest Privately held Power Plants DATABASE(1970-2024), I tripped upon the following Planned in distant past But, Cancelled AP1000s in the U.S. - Levy Country, FL 2x1250 AP1000 - Shearon Harris 2&3, NC 2x1250 AP1000 - Green River, UT 2x1250 AP1000 - Stewart County, GA 1x1250 AP1000 - William States Lee III, SC 2x1250 AP1000 Although, Mr. Fragman did not mention any Names of American Utilities, Nor I have come across any. HOW about any of the above Utilities to REconsider AP1000.!! P.S: For Commercial Success NEW Nuclear must be "Cost-competitive" (Based on recent Progress/Innovation seems Achievable but, remains as an OPEN Question on the Table for Now.!) Reported $/KWe is OK as a START but, for Reliability the Industry needs to share Firm Cost based on "Definative" Type of Cost Estimate (Class 1) along with Detailed "Bill Of Materials/BOQs". #DATABASE(1970-2024)
