In the production of nuclear components what makes the difference is not only the use of advanced technologies but, above all, highly specialized and updated personnel. For this reason, in collaboration with the customer, we organized a technical training session focused on the processing required for their components. #Covis #CovisGroup #precisionmachining #nuclear

Advocate for a globally competitive #AUSTRALIANFUSIONENERGYINDUSTRY with strategic communications expertise.
Best invest in Building and talking about Fusion power, space, and maritime propulsion systems and industry as data centres are. You talk about Nuclear (meaning Fission) and fail to discuss fusion. https://lnkd.in/ge_aeX7M The nuclear fission industry is ignorant of what's happening around you. Pull your uranium heads out, adjust your industry to fusion energy, and prepare to enter the commercially growing fusion energy industry. As it dawns on Earth like the sun. Great Headline, Guardian on Nuclear fission. https://lnkd.in/g8sMZtpR Fission is moving towards obsolescence at an accelerated pace, as it is "out of step, out of time, out of place," and merely a temporary industry globally. https://lnkd.in/gbd_mZqk By 2028, Helion is expected to start producing electricity from its first fusion commercial power plant, which will provide electricity to Microsoft. The plant will produce at least 50 MWe after an initial ramp-up period. https://lnkd.in/gY9J3MQY Now see what is happening in the Fusion industry in the world. https://lnkd.in/g9hMBD7a As fission trebles, fuel shortage is increasingly real,

Hi network! I'm hoping to tap into my network and yours! Do you know or are you a 🍁 Canadian 🍁 nuclear professional who has transitioned/moved from Canada to the United States, and remained in the nuclear industry? Are there specific things you wish you knew? What were some of the immediate challenges to be aware of? Is there anything someone that is thinking about this could/should do now, even if this move might be a few years away? I have someone in my network that is looking for more information on this and wants to remain anonymous. What better than for me to use my network than to help them?! If you want to message me privately with information - please do so, OR, post below! #planningahead #expatlife #nuclear #moving #careerplanning

Challenge #nuclearjobs: The nuclear industry is talking about wanting to recruit. My students are talking about wanting jobs. How do we connect recent graduates who really want to work in the nuclear sector to a sector that claims to want to hire them? What actions do they need to do?

I had an interesting and very positive experience this week: providing a guest lecture on Nuclear Operations at Ontario Tech University. I titled it “Nuclear Operations, Engineering, and Reactivity Management”. The structure of it was loosely based around CNSC RegDoc 2.3.4 “Operations Programs for Reactor Facilities (DRAFT)” [1], quite possibly my favourite RegDoc, if one is allowed to have such a thing. 🤓 One point that I wanted to drive home is that “Nuclear Operations” may center around the Ops department, but is much bigger than that… as the RegDoc shows. After providing a general overview, I zeroed in on the section that could almost serve as my job description: 4, “Core Reactivity and Fuel Management”. Then we pushed through to the concept of Reactivity Management in general, which has somehow become my primary professional obsession. Then we segued briefly into the Fuel & Reactor Engineering program being designed for the BWRX-300 at the Darlington New Nuclear Project... and how Reactivity Management will be the explicit cornerstone of the entire program: defining the underlying mindset, shaping every requirement, and setting/informing every priority. And then we talked about BWRX-300. Of course. How could we not? In my opinion, it's the biggest thing (in a small package) happening in the Canadian nuclear industry right now. (Don't worry Lowell, I was careful to use only publicly available info. 😇) As a "slightly older" person (hailing from the late 1900s), I've heard all kinds of things about the new generation of young adults. Not a lot of it has been complimentary. Well, I'm sure the predecessors to my generation said similarly dumb things. These students seemed engaged, smart, respectful, and eager to take their place in the world. They reminded me, not of me, but of what I wished I had been like at their age. I think they will do well, even with the very-far-from-perfect world they're inheriting. Thanks to them for putting up with my ADHD-enhanced rambling. Thanks also to Dr. Akira Tokuhiro for providing me with this opportunity and Lamia Khairy for helping to facilitate it.
