Meet Joseph, our new apprentice plasterer who just completed his first week on site with our team! He joined the business on Monday and will be working on our void contract with WDH, while also studying at college. As part of our successful contract award, we undertook to offer a full-time apprenticeship. Joseph lives and now works within the Wakefield district, and our long-term contract award will allow Joseph to complete his apprenticeship with Certus Construction Services ! Welcome aboard, Joseph! 🛠️ #Partnership #QualityService #Construction

Most awards say an adult apprentice is someone who starts their apprenticeship when they’re 21 or older. They usually get paid higher rates than junior apprentices. If an apprentice turns 21 during their apprenticeship, they don’t get paid as an adult apprentice when they turn 21. For example, if an employee is 19 years old when they sign the training contract for their 4-year carpentry apprenticeship under the Building and Construction Award, they don’t become an adult apprentice when they turn 21 in the third year of their apprenticeship. Check the minimum award rates for all apprentices with our Pay Calculator: https://lnkd.in/f2zYA22

What's your advice for those entering today's job market? My niche advice to those of you that are just graduating from high school is only for a few. If you like working with your hands and you are good at math, consider union carpentry. The apprenticeship programs that carpenter unions have are tremendously successful. You learn from some of the best Master Carpenters in the industry. This advice applies to both girls and boys. I wouldn't stop with just the carpenters' apprenticeship. I would enroll in some online classes and see if you can hack it. The experience in the field and the online classes should set you on your way to accomplish anything. Channel your energy. #GetStarted #TheInsider
