Ten Takeaways from Thursday's Transforming Education Panel! - Today's students are content creators - To meet their needs, schools need to serve as incubators - Utilize student voices as a critical lever - student advisory committees inform our work - the work students do has to matter - create conditions and cultures so kids know they can do great, hard things - schools have to get out of the way of students - change prep programs and certification models to prepare staff for a new way forward - staff willingness is a prerequisite to challenge structures and practices that aren't working - staff need permission to re-engineer things that aren't getting results 🔜 Educators will lead the way forward! Watch the entire conversation here: https://lnkd.in/dBMpkz-y *** I help you shift from working in isolation and uncertainty, reconnecting you to your passion and to people and opportunities that help you achieve impact and legacy! ➡️ I’m meeting with educators who are ready to empower themselves and everyone around them. In 2025, I'll be kicking off my spring series of educational events with a workshop that will equip teams with a decision-making framework that I created for student support teams. Our next workshop - Learning Inquiry: A Framework for Streamlining Student Support Decisions - will be held in February, a time when many student support teams are grappling with questions such as: ❓ Does the information we have collected over the past 6 months tell us that a learning evaluation is needed? ❓ How do we clearly communicate to parents all the interventions we are providing across multiple roles (advisor, teacher, counselor, etc)? ❓ What are we recommending as the next steps for addressing this learning challenge and why? How do we involve the student and/or family in the process? The workshop showcases the Learning Inquiry Framework, which aims to help educators answer these questions and offer a clear and transparent process when recommending next steps. 📅 Date: February 7, 2025 ⏳ Time: 10am-12pm PST / 1pm-3pm EST 📍 Location: Online (Zoom link provided upon registration) To learn more and register, hit the link in the comment!

While many of my friends are winding down for summer break, the teams I work on are in the thick of crunch time working through the sunset 🌆 many nights in row. One may think that's exhausting, but I'm actually super excited to design, develop, and deliver learning experiences so that more people are equipped with new strategies and skills to engage students in learning new skills and more about themselves. I spent the start of the week with my amazing colleague, Laura Boyd Smidt, and passionate CTE teachers in Sumter County Florida, talking about ways to integrate entrepreneurship into courses like early childhood and agriscience. They did some deep thinking and planning despite us being in the way of their summer break 🌞! We are also 5 weeks out from the Uncharted Learning, NFP | INCubatoredu National Summit and I cannot wait to gather again with inspiring educators, entrepreneurs, and alum to learn together. Entrepreneurial experience expose students to different career paths so they can better understand their interest, passions, and skills. I'm so excited to introduce our community to inspirational and collaborative leaders like Jean Eddy, Jason McCann, Landi Spearman, L6S, Michael Miles, Charlotte Trecartin, Cam Flowers, and Kurt Wilkin, as well as impressive alum like Anna Buendia, Ayden Fowler, Ty Lewis, and Ryan Morrow. I'm also excited to share my non-chatgpt developed thoughts because I believe the role of the teacher and educator is evolving along side the new technology and it's by coming together as a community of learners that we can maximize the change and tackle it with confidence. #alwayslearning #entreed #CTE #ULSummit24 #AIinSchools #chartyourcourse #EducationInnovation #professionaldevelopment #teachers #entrepreneurship #teachersaslearners #studentstartups #kickstartstudents4life
We're gearing up for the 2024 Uncharted Learning National Summit—a convening of our community of educators who share a growth mindset and commitment to student success! Learn more about this annual event. https://hubs.li/Q02zQFj20

The EOY is just around the corner! 🎉 📢 K12 Special Education Teachers || Administrators || Instructional Assistants || Specialists With all the hard work poured into this school year, let’s be sure to end well: ✔ Measure outcomes, and ✔Celebrate your students! Wrapping up the 2023-2024 school year with strong data will leave you with a clear picture of the progress your students have made and a great sense of pride in all their accomplishments. And, while success looks differently for all of us, all students deserve to be recognized for their effort. Celebrating student successes, both big and small, can significantly boost classroom morale and a student’s sense of belonging at school. Plus it just feels good! There are a lot of ways to celebrate successes based on the different personalities and interests of the students in your class. Think beyond traditional recognition like honor roll ceremonies and consider all the ways to shout out your students’ efforts: Personalized shout-outs, notes home, and individualized certificates – like this one, which is 1 of 6 available for **free download** in our recent TeachTown blog about measuring outcomes and celebrating student success in the first comment.
