AI in Education Strategist. Speaker, Author and Podcaster. I help schools and districts leverage the power of AI to craft deep and meaningful learning experiences.
The debate over cell phone use in schools is intensifying. With the release of The Anxious Generation and several states considering bans, it’s clear this topic is top of mind for educators, parents, and policymakers. But instead of all-or-nothing approaches, could a more balanced solution exist? Matt Miller and I try to talk through this on this podcast episode - as a starting point and as a way to create a more productive conversation on this important issue. #EdTech #EducationReform #BalancedLearning #MentalHealthMatters

Team leader and journalist with tech background. Currently working with gen alpha and news at the Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation (NRK).
Working with news for generation alpha, I know podcast is not at the top of their list. How can audio compete with video and gaming? Still, there’s been much debate about screen time in Norway, and making quality audio content for this audience might become increasingly important. The first step to get them interested is perhaps the most obvious: We need to create a variety of interesting content made especially for them! This is where my colleagues and I are at: we’re taking a strong kids news brand, Supernytt, and making a podcast that doesn’t compete with our daily news show, but uses the same voice (the very talented Maria Pedko Lindbäck) and has the same focus on education, making it engaging for kids and useful in the classroom for teachers. The podcast is called «Supernytt forklarer». It’s a storytelling podcast about people and things that have shaped society around 10-14 year-olds today: George Floyd, metoo, Greta Thunberg’s school strike, smartphones, 9/11, among others. The brains behind this, in addition to Maria, are Hanna Nordlien Berg and Kari Anne Kvam. Do you know of any good podcasts for kids aged 10-14? I’m interested in hearing about it! #KidsMedia #Podcast #GenAlpha

Listen to our latest podcast episode on Spotify: Funding IT Expansion in K-12 With E-Rate Powered By: DOF & Service Driven University. Click here to listen: https://lnkd.in/e4hUfuyY This episode discusses the need for K-12 schools to expand their broadband resources in order to support distance learning and provide access to underserved communities. IT directors are facing the challenge of managing an increasing number of non-district devices and resources, such as mobile hotspots. While emergency connectivity funding has helped some schools provide access points and hotspots on buses for students without internet at home, the e-rate program currently does not provide equipment like tablets. However, there is hope that they will support hotspots in the future. Schools must ensure their network is strong enough to support the various devices and demands of technology-enabled learning. Collaboration between solution providers, e-rate consultants, and K-12 leaders is necessary to strengthen and expand the technology foundation in schools to avoid potential failures and ensure the success of these educational tools. We emphasize the importance of consistent investment in expanding the network over time to support the ongoing needs of educational institutions. #servicedriven #doftechnology #erate #eratefunding #federalgrants #technologygrants
