[SpaceX Launches 23 Starlink Satellites In Nighttime Liftoff] SpaceX launched another batch of its Starlink internet satellites to orbit early Wednesday morning (April 10). A Falcon 9 rocket carrying 23 Starlink spacecraft lifted off from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in Florida on Wednesday at 1:40 a.m. EDT (0540 GMT). About 8.5 minutes later, the rocket's first stage came back to Earth, touching down at sea on the SpaceX droneship Just Read the Instructions. It was the second launch and landing for this particular booster, according to a SpaceX mission description. Its lone previous liftoff sent SpaceX's four-astronaut Crew-8 mission toward the International Space Station on March 5. The Falcon 9's upper stage, meanwhile, continued hauling the 21 Starlink satellites toward low Earth orbit (LEO). The spacecraft will be deployed in LEO 65.5 minutes after liftoff, if all goes according to plan. SpaceX has now launched 36 orbital missions in 2024. Two-thirds of those flights have been devoted to building out the Starlink megaconstellation, which currently consists of nearly 5,700 operational satellites. SpaceX launched another batch of its STARLINK internet satellites from California early on Wednesday (Oct. 30). A Falcon 9 rocket carrying 20 Starlink spacecraft, including 13 with direct-to-cell (DTC) capability, lifted off from Vandenberg Space Force Base at 8:07 a.m. ET (1307 GMT; 5:07 a.m. local California time). SpaceX streamed the launch via X, formerly Twitter. SpaceX has already launched more than 100 Falcon 9 missions in 2024, about two-thirds of them devoted to building out the Starlink megaconstellation. The company currently operates more than 6,400 Starlink spacecraft in LEO (Low Earth orbit (LEO) is the region of space that orbits Earth at an altitude of 1,200 miles (2,000 km) or less), according to astrophysicist and satellite tracker Jonathan McDowell. About 250 of them are DTC satellites. Meanwhile, a Chinese space ship carrying a three-person crew has docked with its orbiting space station as the country seeks to expand its exploration of outer space. The team of two men and one woman will replace the astronauts who have lived on the Tiangong space station for the last six months, conducting a variety of experiments and maintaining the structure. They are expected to stay until April or May of next year. See link in comment below for more information. The team at Space Intel is dedicated to alleviating the risks associated with bird strikes and space objects re-entry into the Earth's atmosphere. [SpaceX Launches 23 Starlink Satellites From Florida] SpaceX launched 23 more of its Starlink satellites on Sunday (May 12), adding to its huge and ever-growing broadband megaconstellation. A Falcon 9 rocket topped with the Starlink spacecraft lifted off from Florida's Cape Canaveral Space Force Station at 8:53 p.m. EDT (0053 GMT on May 13). The Falcon 9's first stage came back to Earth about 8 minutes after launch, touching down on the droneship A Shortfall of Gravitas, stationed in the Atlantic Ocean. It was the 15th launch and landing for this particular first stage, according to a SpaceX mission description. Nine of its 14 liftoffs to date have been Starlink missions. The Falcon 9's upper stage, meanwhile, carried the 23 Starlink satellites to low Earth orbit (LEO), deploying them there about 65 minutes after liftoff. Sunday's launch was the 49th orbital mission of 2024 already for SpaceX. Thirty-three of this year's 48 launches have been dedicated to building out the Starlink megaconstellation, which currently consists of about 5,900 working satellites. That number will likely continue growing far into the future; SpaceX has permission to deploy 12,000 Starlink satellites in LEO and has applied for approval for another 30,000 on top of that.
