Here are 10 things we talked about on our trip to San Antonio for Dirt World a couple weeks ago: 1/ The incredible job the BuildWitt team has done of identifying a need and taking aggressive action to meet it. 2/ who did each of us vote for and why? 3/ Characteristics from each of our dads that we see showing up in our own lives and leadership 4/ Potential options for Path for Growth to respond to requests for team member development tracks. 5/ Possibilities for Path for Growth book or book(s) 6/ What God is teaching us in this season 7/ The value of playing to win versus playing “not to lose.” 8/ The value, power, and rarity of contentment in your career and business. 9/ What makes certain communication stick with people? 10/ How do you understand the first 3 beatitudes and what is a mature way for getting to the bottom of different perspectives on what they mean? Needless to say, I’m grateful for Kyle Guemmer and Matt Aiken’s conversational range. These questions and discussion were invigorating. It’s such a gift to work with people that are intentionally pursuing healthy growth. Also, God bless Texas and Remember the Alamo 🤘🏼

Dare to say, "Yes!" My brother and (now) sister-in-law both did on this beautiful Oregon beach last week. Actually, the "Yes!" I'm referring to was my answer when they asked me to officiate their wedding some time ago. Why would I focus on that answer? Because the easier answer for me would have been, "No." "No" is easy because it's easier to stand on the sidelines and not take a risk. There's no pressure; just show up on time (we arrived at the last minute - but that's another story!). But, there's also no reward. There would have been no joy in being right next to my brother as he cried while reciting his vows (so did I). No joy in seeing my future sister-in-law walk down to the beach that we'd been vacationing at since we were kids. And, no reward in knowing I helped those dear to me when they asked for me to be there for them. So, I ask you: Have you been offered an opportunity to do something that is in alignment with your values? If so, would it be challenging - even difficult - to agree to do that something? While deciding, I urge you to consider how you will feel about your decision after the opportunity has concluded. On a recent vacation, we hiked the Marginal Way in Ogunquit, wandered along the stunning coast, visited lighthouses, and soaked in the raw beauty of the Maine seashore. #leadership Today's leadership off-site at Croke Park wasn't just about strategy and numbers – it was a powerful reminder of why we do what we do. Ambition is the fuel that drives us forward. For me, it's the spark that challenges me to keep learning and growing. But the biggest ambition I hold is to empower those around me to reach their full potential. As we ascended the stands of Croke Park, a place steeped in history and national pride since 1884, overlooking the hallowed grounds that have hosted over 82,000 passionate fans, a simple sign caught my eye: "A Place of Belonging." It struck a chord deep within. When we feel like we belong, like we're part of something bigger, that's when our ambitions truly thrive. It creates a safe space to push boundaries, take risks, and ultimately, achieve greatness together. This off-site wasn't just an event – it was a catalyst, held in a place where history has been made and countless dreams have been realized. When team members have access to critical data, they can work autonomously, reducing the need for constant approvals and queries. This not only speeds up processes but also enhances their ability to make informed decisions independently. It’s a win-win: your team grows more confident and skilled, while senior leaders can devote more time to strategizing and addressing complex challenges that shape the organization’s future.   One transformative tool I’ve explored is the decision tree concept from Susan Scott’s “Fierce Conversations.” This tool has been pivotal in planning goals for myself and my leadership team.
