An ad so good people still remember it over 20 years later? Look not further than this classic for Jaffa Cakes. The premise is simple. A teacher eats them one at a time to demonstrate moon phases. > Hold up. ‘Full Moon’. > Bite. ‘Half Moon.’ > Eat the rest. ‘Total Eclipse’. > Repeat Why was something so simple so effective? The product’s the hero. Sure, it’s funny. Sure, the soundbite is engaging. Sure, we’d love to be able to fit it into our work too. But ad was obviously created to fit the product, not to fit the product into some funny idea. How can you tell? The product is front and centre at every moment - yet it never feels forced. The result? People still know exactly what it’s for - and still quote it - over 2 decades later. So next time you’re debating all these ‘great’ ads you see pop up? Measure them against this. My bet? They’re probably not going to be recalled as well as brands think. (P.S. - The ad in question. The comments speak for themselves. https://lnkd.in/ekF93DUH)

Claire Fletcher I saw this image the other day and immediately remembered every word!
Never eaten one without saying this! 🌙 🤣
So true Claire, good marketing is about being memorable. How many times have you seen a great advert but can't actually remember what it was for?
Yes, remember this!
Lady, give those children a cookie 🙈
Ha! When I was a teacher, I actually used Jaffa cakes to teach phases of the moon (think waxing and waning). Totally inspired by this advert!
Claire Fletcher Just to clarify its a cake not a biscuit 💁♂️
