Here’s a few pic updates from our ongoing works at Burgess Hill. Currently, our team is hard at work on the Roadbox construction. We've been diligently giving dips for the Road Formation level. This refers to the process of measuring and marking the vertical distance or depth from a reference point to the desired formation level of the road. This ensures that the road surface will be constructed at the correct elevation and gradient as per the design specifications. Essentially, it involves surveying and setting out the precise levels that the road construction needs to follow. Additionally, we've marked up the location of services with spray and informed the respective supervisor before commencing the Roadbox construction and we’ve completed the As-Built Surveys. These surveys are crucial as they document the exact locations, dimensions, and elevations of all features and structures, ensuring that the final construction matches the design plans. The next stage on this project will be the installation of kerbing, followed by the tarmac layer. #ConstructionUK #BurgessHill #AsBuilt #Surveyors #GPS #SiteEngineers #CivilEngineeringUK #SettingOut #RoadboxConstruction

There’s a well known saying “all good things come to those who wait” and we like to think this is true about Protect FrameSafe FR, our new flame retardant external wall breather membrane. We’ve spent time and effort meticulously developing the product so that it exceeds Building Regulations Approved Document Part B, making it the perfect solution for higher risk buildings as defined in the 2022 Building Safety Act. FrameSafe FR has been independently fire tested by a third party laboratory and achieves Class A2-s1, d0, both free hanging and as part of a system in an end use application, mechanically fixed over both A1 and A2 substrates with laps sealed with new Protect FR tape. Our head of marketing, John Mellor, sums it up: “It goes without saying that fire safety is a fundamental part of any build, but it’s especially critical with higher risk projects such as high rise residential accommodation. It’s also crucial that product testing takes into account fire performance as part of the whole building system so that specifiers have the full transparent picture. When we were developing Protect FrameSafe FR and undertaking our due diligence, we knew the product needed to tick all the boxes and be a true ‘hidden protector’ that is fully independently fire tested.” Find out more here: https://lnkd.in/efe2kZtY Or get in touch by emailing us at info@glidevaleprotect.com or call our technical team on +44 (0)161 905 5700 for more details. #architect #firesafety #specification #construction #buildingregulations #modularconstruction #newbuild

Working with Professional Engineers If someone or property can be damaged (or killed) if your piece fails you should employ the services of a registered, licensed, insured, professional engineer to assist in the design of your project, seal the drawings and accept liability for the design. When you’re hanging cladding off a building, you need a PE, when you’re making countertops or tile, no. There are a lot of grey areas where you will have to balance the costs vs. the exposure (risk). Stair treads in a commercial building are a good example of a project that should be designed by a PE. Working with engineers: Like many things in life, it’s about relationships. If you’re a small company, find a small engineering firm or single proprietor to work with. Stair treads would be simple for a competent professional, at $150 per hour my guess would be less than $500 bucks including a simple shop ticket, less for the second similar project of a similar design. The more you can help the engineer, the lower your cost and the faster the turnaround. Have all the information you will need before going to the engineer, drawings (the plans you get for the project), all intended imbeds, connections, etc., test results on your mix (compressive and flexural) even shop drawings if you can. Users of Trinic pre-mixes can use the tests performed by Trinic as a baseline. Trinic can also assist our admixture customers with basic compressive and flexural testing. Engineers overdesign because they must include factors of safety (legally). Follow their designs dutifully or you will be liable for any failures. You need a good team to succeed in business. Think of Professional Engineers as an integral part of your team. Head of Marketing at Building Product Design, encompassing Glidevale Protect, Passivent and Kingfisher Louvres | BA Hons in Marketing & Business Studies (1st class)
👉Our innovative fire rated external wall membrane continues to create plenty of interest in the construction sector. If you want to find out more about this Class A2 membrane and tape system, just drop me a DM 📧 💡Earlier this year, Glidevale Protect launched Protect FrameSafe FR – our innovative flame retardant external wall breather membrane. Achieving a Class A2-s1, d0 reaction to fire rating as a system with our Protect FR tape, this solution exceeds the requirements of both the Building Regulations Approved Document B in England and Building Regulations Technical Guidance Document B in Ireland. In our latest blog, our head of technical, Jim Smith discusses this new product development, the timing of its entry to market and, most crucially for a fire rated membrane, how we were able to accurately verify its performance. Robustly checking the integrity and transparency of the technical claims being made for Protect FrameSafe FR was a key to its launch and Jim talks us through the external testing that was conducted. It was crucial that fire tests were carried out independently by a third party laboratory on this membrane system both free hanging and fixed to A1 and A2 substrates and, for even greater transparency, this was filmed and a video made available to view. Read the full article here to understand more about FrameSafe FR’s fire testing journey: https://lnkd.in/eCyMq_Vs #firesafety #highrise #ukconstruction #construction #building #design #facade

🚪 Fire Door Safety Week: Day 3 - Comprehensive Traceability & Documentation 🚪 One of our recent door projects undertaken on the Christleton project consisted of 26 doorsets. This project features comprehensive traceability and documentation readily accessible at a click of a button or a scan of our QR code, equipping our client with vital information regarding their new fire doors. We approach our projects with meticulous attention to detail throughout all phases, not solely during installation. Several key aspects contributed to the success of this project, which are integral to our methodology for all door projects: 🔹 Interaction with our estimating, surveying, and contract teams during the initiation stages 🔹Site visits with the manufacturer 🔹Factory meetings with the door manufacturer to ensure specifications, designs and queries are addressed. 🔹Pre-start meetings with our installation and site management teams running through the installation requirement process. 🔹Providing our site team with comprehensive documentation at the touch of a button on their PDAs. 🔹Each door is individually assessed during the installation and then accompanied by its own post-inspection report once ready for handover. 🔹Gathering all relevant supporting documentation, including manufacturer installation and test evidence, field of applications, design specifications, door schedules, layout plans, and linear seal products and more. Check out the video to see a brief snippet of how we conduct detailed door audits, both on-site and via desktop technology, ensuring precision and compliance at every stage of the project. At Frank Rogers we take immense pride in precisely documenting every step of the process, from the initial order to the final completion, ensuring that all procedures, documentation, and evidence of the door's journey are thoroughly captured. ***DISCLAIMER*** For all the eagle-eyed viewers out there 👀: Some doors are held or wedged open in this video purely for the drone flight to avoid any damage to the newly fitted fire doors. Rest assured, once the shoot wrapped up, all doors were back in full compliance! #FireDoorSafetyWeek #FireSafety #Traceability #Compliance #Construction #ChristletonProject #FrankRogers British Woodworking Federation Jason Sefton - CertFDI MIFSM FR Fire protection Onetrace
