In simple terms, when an organisation implements a digital #governanceframework, the board and senior management -- including key stakeholders -- have a clear understanding of who is accountable and who is responsible for the many #governance activities required within and by the organisation. The digital governance framework allows the board and senior management to address the organisation's key challenges in a practical manner, with improved visibility and by breaking down organisational silos; leading to a more engaged workforce, integrated thinking, increased productivity, and quicker execution. With a digital governance framework, the client has the means to 'opening' the framework to a minimum of one (1) line of defense (some call this one line of assurance), however this could be geared up to three (3), or even up to 32-lines of defense. The codes of governance used in South Africa currently make recommendations for listed and government organisations to use 6-lines of defense, however, with agile, fast-paced boards within a high-risk environment, others have increased their defense and assurance levels to 32 lines of defense!
