Collaborations between academic centers and pharmaceutical companies like AstraZeneca represent a powerful synergy that accelerates the translation of cutting-edge research into tangible medical advancements. These partnerships leverage the unique strengths of both sectors: academic institutions provide innovative, high-risk research ideas and deep scientific expertise, while pharmaceutical companies offer substantial resources, infrastructure, and the capability to scale discoveries into clinical applications. For instance, through such collaborations, novel drug candidates can progress from early-stage research to clinical trials more efficiently, benefiting from the rigorous scientific validation and extensive testing provided by both parties. These alliances also foster a dynamic exchange of knowledge and expertise, enhancing the pipeline of new therapies and ultimately improving patient outcomes. By aligning academic curiosity with industry resources, these collaborations play a crucial role in addressing unmet medical needs and pushing the boundaries of science. Proud to be included in our partnership with AZ.

Collaboration is essential in drug development – both internally among teams and externally with the broader scientific and clinical communities.
To help us answer some of the toughest questions in cancer R&D, our Partners of Choice Network is critical. It was fantastic to spend time with collaborators from leading institutions around the world recently which make up this network. Since we launched five years ago, we have collaborated on more than 60 scientific projects and more than 80 clinical trials.
Thank you to our partners for your ongoing support. In our endeavour to transform outcomes for patients, I am energised for what is to come and look forward to seeing what we can achieve together over the next five years.
