Today, to celebrate the International Youth Day, the young members of the Youth Advisory Panel (YAP) were live on radio discussing digital pathways for youth development in South Sudan. They talked about how youth can use the media as an advocacy and economic empowerment tool. The day-long National Conference on ‘Initiatives Taken by the Ministry of Cooperation in 100 Days’ is set to take place on 19 September in New Delhi. Attended todays Area Committee to answer any questions about the Anti-Poverty report. Great to hear the local councillors highlighting the rural poverty issues and giving me support to raise the profile of rural poverty at a higher level. Normal data sets do not pick up the hidden pockets of poverty well, this affects seemingly wealthy rural areas. Using LIFT data and access deprived data is a good start to highlight this but much more needs to be done. Raising the profile of the rural premium is something I want to focus on. #ruralpoverty #ruralpremium #hiddenpoverty
