Good evening Busan... Today I met with reporter Son (손 기자님) from the Busan Ilbo (부산일보) to talk about further developing Busan into a 'Global city'. Today's interview included discussions on what the ECCK is doing in Busan and the area, what foreign companies are looking for when investing here and also general discussion on living in Busan as a foreigner. These days Busan Metropolitan City Government is working hard to develop Busan into a global city, especially through the proposal of the Busan Global Hub City Special Act (부산글로벌헙도시특별법) which when passed by the national assembly will broaden investment incentives for foreign businesses in numerous industries and drive further innovation. The city has also created the Busan Global City Foundation which is also looking at various ways to improve the standard of living for foreigners. Reporter Son is also interviewing other foreign residents of Busan and foreign firm representatives for this article which will be published at a later date. This is excellent to see, as positive change can only come from a bottom-up approach! The future for Busan (and of course the Bu-Ul-Gyeong region) is starting to look very bright...

Associate Research Fellow (U.S. Programme) at the S. Rajaratnam School of International Studies, Singapore
A month ago, I attended a workshop organised by World Learning in Bali, with the goal of gathering a series of experts from Quad and ASEAN countries to discuss developmental and emerging issues. As you might have guessed, I talked about infrastructure - how the region still has a considerable infrastructure gap, and how Quad countries could still play a key role in helping the region address this issue on top of China's ongoing #BeltandRoad Initiative. I consolidated my thoughts on the topic in an article below, published in Facts Asia. #Quad #ASEAN #Infrastructure #PGI #Bluedotnetwork https://lnkd.in/gQ5THnzF
