US political rivalries are center stage for the remaining month until the election. However, there's another rivalry brewing, one that will significantly shape national security, economic and technological developments, and superpower positioning for the foreseeable future. And it's not about #gold, #silver, or #uranium. That's the 50 #criticalminerals, including the 17 rare earth elements (#REE) supply chain. This is one reason I'm excited about the Meteoric Resources Meteoric Brasil Caldeira project and other trends in the US and global REE sector. https://lnkd.in/e5mze_p7

The recent accession of new members to the #BRICS association has significantly impacted the global reserves of rare-earth metals. With BRICS countries now accounting for a staggering 72% of these crucial resources, the strategic importance of BRICS in the global mineral landscape is undeniable. 🌟🔋 Evgeny Petrov, head of the Russian Federal Subsoil Resources Management Agency (Rosnedra), highlighted this remarkable development. This shift not only strengthens the BRICS alliance but also reshapes the global market for rare-earth metals. 🌐✨ #MineralResources #GlobalEconomy #BRICS #RareEarthMetals https://lnkd.in/ett6cDGA

The competition for critical minerals has escalated geopolitical rivalries. Countries rich in "critical" or/and "strategic minerals, particularly those already affected by conflict, have increasingly found themselves caught in larger power struggles. Global powers, as highlighted in the case studies of this report, are vying for access to these valuable minerals. This situation not only risks exacerbating existing conflicts but may also give rise to new tensions surrounding resource control.
The interplay between mineral security and geopolitical competition is increasingly critical in today’s global landscape. In the newly released publication, 'Critical Minerals and Great Power Competition: An Overview', by Jiayi Zhou and André Månberger examines how minerals as fundamental inputs for industrial economies are increasingly necessary for states and other polities to progress technologically, to transition to cleaner sources of energy, and to remain economically and even militarily competitive. This is a really interesting development... The Canadian government stepping in to purchase rare earth's to prevent them being sold to China. There are so many questions about this strategy... 1) Why didn't the government just restrict the trade instead of buying the product? 2) Does the government become a commodities trader now? 3) Pricing strategy? They would need to pay the same or more than China to make the company viable. 4) Does the government have a downstream buyer? The output from the refinery would likely go to China anyway. 5) Does the government plan to do this elsewhere? That would potentially be seen negatively unless they paid a premium to the market rate.

In Part 2 of this interview, Louis does a deep dive into the following: - The role he sees #gold playing moving forward as the purchasing power of the #dollar continues to get stripped away. - If his analysis is pointing to a large move in gold similar to the 1970's and early 2000's? - The impact the new emerging middle class across India, Latin America and Asia have on #commodities. - The impact of low CAPEX and global population growth of more than 900 million people over the last decade plus on #energy: #oil, #uranium, #coal, #naturalgas, & #metals exploration and production? - What he sees for uranium moving forward? - If he sees higher #inflation, shortages or bottlenecks in commodities and metals for the U.S. due to their largely importing all of them from #China and other nations? - China is stockpiling metals. What he sees for industrial metals prices. - How to hedge against sustained inflation? - plus more
